How Saft am I

I have only just found out that when checking your oil on a Motorbike you do not screw the dipstick back in you just dip it I always thought you Screwed it back in. Please can some one else say they thought the same so I dont feel such a Dipstick.

Screw it back in. Check if ok. Start engine, run for a bit. Stop engine. Recheck. Fill up if necessary. Job Done.

Depends on the bike. It has to be screwed in on the speed triple.

I've had several bikes where the dipstick had to be screwed in fully before checking the oil level.

Check the owners manual, it should state in it whether you need to screw the dipstick in or not to get a correct reading

All makes and models can vary.
Some on centre stand, some from cold, some from just run and shut off. Which is madness. Coz if none there to begin with what harm will you do??? I dip, run then dip for them.

And I hate checking oil level anyway....
