Winter/Summer gloves

Do you have a different pair of gloves for the seasons?

I only have winter gloves at the moment (not waterproof though) that are like gauntlets and go over the jacket sleeves.

I am guessing that the summer gloves are shorter and don't go over the sleeves and that they probably have less lining inside?

Yes, I have a pair of each. The summer ones are leather and kangaroo hide and give me much better control and feel than the winter ones. They aren't waterproof though and if it does rain my hands go black with the dye from the gloves.

I tried riding without gloves for a few miles for the first time last week and it felt really good but I remember the state of my friends hands when he came off his bike without gloves.

I'll get some thinner summer gloves.

I've got some summer gloves that are perforated leather, lots of little holes to let the air through.

The first winter I had them, I made the mistake of using them through the winter !

Not a good idea, but they are ace in summer.

I like second hand stuff off ebay, as you can get something that when new cost someone £60, for just a tenner.

As has been said, summer gloves will go over your cuffs, they are usually perforated to keep your hands cool.

As for riding without gloves not me I like my fingers, knuckles and skin where it is.

I would say having different gloves for winter and summer is essential isn't it? No way you can wear summer gloves in winter and doing vice versa gives you the manky sweaty gloves smell unique to motorcyclists hands

I used to just have the two pairs, a thin summer pair and a sort of 3 season pair that could've been warmer, so this winter I bought a pair of thermal lined gloves as well, so that 3 pairs in total.

I ride in short length summer gloves all year round, when it starts getting colder I put on a pair of those magic stretch gloves as well, can't be doing with long length gloves...

I got two winter and two summer, there all slightly warmer cooler to a degree so I can wear the best ones for the weather condition. I dont mind second hand, I bought some off a forum member and they were nicely broken in, excellent condition and a good bargain to boot.

I have two pairs of summer gloves , one large pair which I wear in the summer and an extra large for the winter both are 'race gloves', but the larger size keeps my hands warmer in the winter months.

Neither pair of gloves are waterproof , but then I don't need them to be , I only ride when the sun shines.
