my bike

i really should stop giving you people ammuntion to take the piss out of my ability at two wheel purchasing but this is quite bad, so here are some pics

the most shocking amount of mismatched bolts ever, i HATE when people use any bolts they can find to fit the bill, it really winds me up, one fairing bolt had a 12mm spanner head! wtf!?!

so all in all, pretty much all fucked, im leaving these mid and bottom fairings off the bike now, the underside of the bike wont collect that much grime during summer, and its preferable to having to get that lot back on, i dont do cable ties

but replacement fairings can wait, they are last on the list of things to do

i never have much luck with bikes, ive got a hell of a lot of experiences and stories to tell for someone who has only been riding 3 years, its quite worrying

but bikes may not like me, im not letting them get away with it, that'd be too easy, and then the bikes will win

Hi

To be honest they just look like some fairly typical bodges on an older bike. Seen a lot worse.

All the best

Not really. The exhaust has probably totally screwed up the power delivery, and the handling is probably crap with a set of forks from another bike lobbed in place (and that is assuming that the forks are not there because of the original ones being destroyed in a front end smash).

All the best

If stuff breaks most people use what they can to get by, till they can afford to fix it properly. Some forget the latter part and if it works, leave the bodge there. How didn't you notice this stuff when you bought it Goosey? You unlucky little sailor you.

I think the one on eBay is sexy, but maybe a tiny bit over priced, but only a tiny bit.

Its a good point, how did you miss all that damage when you bought it?

Goose, there is no real problem with the fairings...

You need, superglue, and/or maybey some araldite, paint (and a good clean up first), cable ties, and various screws... Nothing wrong with cable ties, tip: use colour coded cable ties, they are so hard to spot!

I have the same bike, as you probably know, and if you spend some time on the fairings, you can get them looking really nice...
My fairings have been in a similar condition to yours, but now i have glued, tied, cleaned, painted etc, they are in a much better state. Im a bit of a perfectionist when it comed to these matters.

Plus its an old bike, so i like it to look its best. Frankly i'd be a bit embaressed, if i had an old, messed up bike. However, an old well conditioned bike is fine in my opinion Thumbs Up .

Its an old bike, (like mine) so abviously the plastics aren't going to be in A1 condition. Just needs a little TLC.

Its probably not worth shelling out hundreds of pounds on new/used plastics, becasue its an old bike, and not worth "that" much...

Seriously it may look bad, but you cant beat a good clean up and repair. next time you're around i'll show you my bike and what i've done to it.

Safe, and good luck! Thumbs Up

Goose mate you live pretty near me, i have a spare fibreglass kit that you can use on the inside of the fairing. Its like a plaster system, cost me like 8 quid and i never needed it. If you fancy a go your welcome to pop over and 'borrow' it Laughing
And condolences on the bike, but shit happens. What can you do.
