Never rid a bike ... so I got a 2006 Honda CR 125. Help!

I think I probably made a stupid choice here. But I will learn to live with it.

I'm new to biking. Never rid a bike. I live near a track and wanted to learn because it looks like something I'd be interested in. I'm 25 years old, and couldnt find any big wheel 80's, I would have looked like a clown on the small ones so I settled with a 125.

I got a nice Honda CR 125 (2006 model). It was owned by another newbie, never raced, hardly used. This is the exact one I picked up: https://is.gumtree.com/image/big/8739415.jpg

Is it possible to learn to ride on one of these? Is it advised? The one thing that is worrying me as a beginner is the power band.

My brother who rides is taking me out tomorrow for my first practice run. I'm a little nervous to be honest and think maybe an 80 would have been better at first. Never the less I'm stuck with it now. No doubt I will enjoy it once I get to grips.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Practice on flat ground to start with, preferably a flat grass field and don't go crazy with your right wrist.

Get some proper off road gear including body armour before going on a track.

Just relax and take it easy to begin with and when you do fall off, just pick the bike up and get straight back on it

Edit: You can learn on any bike. As I said just take it easy to start with.

nice bike and yeah you can learn on that. I would start off in a nice wide open space like a field of some sort and just go easy on the throttle to get the feel of the bike. You can get used to the power band if you hit it in a higher gear then work your way down and soon enough you will be hitting it in every gear. another tip is to lean over the front when hitting the power band as this will keep the front end down and make sure you have your foot over the back brake just as insurance.
