I passed my test recently Very Happy and am now on the lookout for buying jackets for winter and summer, from my search in the forums it seems you lot here recommend a leather one for winter and a textile one for summer which is what i suspected, my question is, can any of you recommend any particular jackets ? I want the winter jacket to be nice and bright ( akito desert type bright, but i have read they are not very good ) for dark winter nights. cheers

I prefer a leather jacket for summer and a textile for winter and when the weather is bad.

I have a RST leather jacket for summer. I have an RST and a Frank Thomas textile jackets for winter.

I also have RST leather trousers for summer. I have Belstaff textile trousers for winter and bad weather.

HTH Thumbs Up

You could just get the one, a textile one with vents and a removable liner...that way your kit doesn't start taking over your life. Thumbs Up

£200 ish but i would be happy to get second hand off Ebay, in fact i would prefer to get jackets that have been worn in as it were, i had lots of probs getting some boots, because the new boots i tried i couldn't even walk in them let alone ride in them, then i got some second hand Akito Carbon Tec boots off Ebay they were excellent Smile

I take it RST are a good make ?

I think RST are good for the price Thumbs Up

I have bought, leather trousers, leather jacket and gloves (all new) for £250.

They have armour in all the right places and trousers come with knee sliders fitted. Wink

frank thomas xti for winter, cant fault it, had it over 2 years and with the lining i rode the coldest days this past winter with just a t-shirt on underneath although in summer most textiles get too hot and sticky even without the lining...

leather is leather so just get whatever is on offer, look for CE armour in elbows shoulders back etc

I'm currently using the second Akito textile jacket that I've had in the last 5 years. I know they're not usually known for quality, but I've use(d) them for daily commuting without any significant problems.

I also have some Richa leathers that I use for weekend blasts and rideouts when I'm away from work.
