Just got off the phone with Carole Nash and annoyed doesn't quite cover it Evil or Very Mad

I took out an insurance policy with them in March on my bikes as I planned on passing my car test this year and I wanted to take advantage of their 6 wheel policy, they weren't the cheapest for the bikes but I figured if I was going to save a bundle on car insurance then it'd be fine. I was told on several occasions by several different people before I took out my bike quote that as long as I was 23 or over and had no accidents or claims then I'd be able to mirror my bike no claims for a car after I'd passed my test so I went ahead and insured my bikes through them.

I passed my driving test last Friday (whoop!) and I have been offered a cheap Peugeot 306 for £250. I rang up today to try and get it on a 6 wheel policy when the guy on the end of the phone says that as I'm not over 25 and have not held my driving licence for over 2 years that there's only 1 insurer who'd quote me and they'd only be able to mirror 1 year of my 6 bike no claims, WTF?? Forgot on several occasions to tell me that when I took out the bike policy then? Either way he wasn't going to be able to mirror my full NCB even though I was told previously there would be no problems and the cheapest quote I could get on a £250 car was £960. Obviously they didn't get any further business out of me and when my bikes need insuring again I will be steering well clear of them.

So this is just a heads up that their 6 wheel policy isn't all it's cracked up to be and that most of the staff there have no idea what it is or what requirements you need to meet to be able to get it. I'd advise steering well clear as I even double and triple checked and was told it'd be fine by different people yet when it came to the crunch they were useless. Great.

I looked into this at one of the shows, the guy said I bet i could get you the cheapest quote for your bike and car, I said I bet you can't, he looked determinded to show me up so I said go on then sat down, told him I was 22 then I got up and left looking smug.

On a side note does anyone know if there 6 wheel policy will cover 2 bikes and 1 car?

I have 2 bikes on my policy with them and they were going to put a car on there fine for the 6 wheel thing but obviously you should check yourself first to save being messed around like I was.

had a similar funny experience with carole nash recently.

phoning around for quotes for my new bike they asked if my car insurance was up soon. as it happens its up beginning of next month so i said yeh but i doubt they could give me a good quote on it being quite a powerful sports car.

they promised me they'll get me a good quote for both bike and car blah blah..

went through all my details again..

'sorry sir, we cannot quote you on that car.'

well duh...

its only a 350Z though, not like its a lambo but still i know what these places are like. been with my current car insurer for nearly 6yrs now as no one else can match their renewals.

Carole Nash was a great company before it sold out and started insuring cars, houses etc like all the others. At one time CN insured my H1 TPFT at £15 for a year on a classic policy. Probably have to add two zeros on these days.

You have a Noble? Is it blue? I passed one of those on the M20 a while back and it was the first one I have ever seen. Pretty nice actually!

And Carole Nash put me right off at the MCN show when one of the girls handed a leaflet to my other half and started telling him all about their 6 wheels offer and totally blanked me. Not even a "do you ride too?" to me. So I added them to my list of companies I wont give business to. Personally, if you have to sell your company by hiring models in teeeny tiny shorts to advertise you then you cant be that great. It could be a great way if you are a guy though!

To be fair, maybe they just presumed that a woman would not be more likely to listen to their patter whilst staring at chest level. Still not right, but more acceptable than assuming you didn't ride because of being a girl.
