Hi all.
I have only got a shitty 33 braker, but its quite torquey in first and i find it quite easy to lift the front aslong as you are at the back of the seat not balls to tank. However when i wheelie like that, or if a mate is on the back but i am balls to tank, and i wheelie... well it kinda goes up ok, but comes down and wobbles left and right and then is fine. Its hard to explain, but its not exactly smoothly down and looks and feels out of control. And btw i am clutching it up, not standing up and bunny hopping the bars or something stupid.

The reason i am confused, is if i wheelie off of speed bumps/ramps with balls to tank (havent tried sitting back yet... only just realised it was cos i was sitting to far forward that was stopping it) it just cruises up and floats down again completely gently and feels 100% natural.

So it is confusing me, any idea why it goes into a wobble and is shitty if i clutch it up in first at about 10-15 mph sitting back in the seat.... but not if i clutch it up off a speed bump in first... again at about 10-15 mph sitting at the front of the seat?

Btw i wont be appreciating the answer 'dont wheelie' lol Laughing

Regards

Richard

That is a how to, nto troubleshooting tho. Its what got me to shuffle my arse back those extra few inches to get the front hoisted up... so im thankful anyway Laughing But just wondering if theres something simple a pro might no. So kinda G or Zimma are my best bets for finding out, as everyone starts somewhere and might have had the same trouble.

/me points to steering damper... Very Happy

nah, seriously though... it could be because your weight is too far back when you land, maybe relaxing your grip on the bars a bit?

a freind was telling me that he used to wheelie his GPZ1100 by pulling the front brake in so hard it would lock the front wheel and then tuging on the bars would bring the bike up, it this possable Question

Not quite a 'pro' unfortuantely Sad, but, my Penny Coin Penny Coin :

I'm not sure about the wobbles. Sounds like you're landing crossed up; try and keep the wheel straight when you land.

Coming off a speed bump, when the rear wheel goes down the front lifts that bit higher. I can keep a wheely on my dr going for a lot longer off a speed bump; if I'm doing it without I'm pretty much at the redline by the time I'm at the right height.
Definitely try sitting back on speed bumps.

It maybe that you're trying 'too hard', so tensing up a bit when doing it ... make sure your arms aren't stiff when you land.
I'd also check your head bearings are ok.

It might be worth 'bumping' it while clutching if you can get the hangof it, which I never really did. Most of this is actually done with your feet, not your arms, kind of jump down on the pegs, then bring it up as the suspension unloads.

Hi guys thanks for the replies, been on a 9 hour shift so couldnt reply.
It just seems odd to me mainly as if i try and clutch it up WHENEVER of the flat, i can feel it lurch sideways straight away.
But if i do it off a speedbump, its beautiful. No naughtiness AT ALL! Not even slightly. Literally just a cruise up and down. Its amazingly beautiful. (in feeling, bet it looks wussy). However like i say, clutched up off the floor its a dog.

curious.

Oh well practice makes perfect.

I think i also nanny the clutch a bit. I find it hard to just let go, i always want to nurse it out slowly. Its a consscious effort believe me to just chuck it out. Is it possible to have a llaggy clutch? of o just throw it out... it takes like a millisecond to transfer to it.
