ok so I have just bought myself a lovely 1998 yamaha fzs 600 fazer, and found myself a restriction kit i will fit nearer the time. at the moment i cant take my test because i am still only 16 Sad.

im not getting coned into paying a million pounds to get a stupid certificate that says its restricted, which is why i am fitting the kit myself and if my insurance require proof of restriction taking the bike for a dyno test, making a video and taking a prinout to prove its my bike etc.

a few questions that i guarentee no-one will know the answer to, because quite frankly there is no answer, but i wanted some opionions. here we go:

1. crank, or rear wheel figure? because technically if its at the rear wheel, at the end of the day thats the maximum the bike can put down on the ROAD. but again it could be aruged the other way i guess.

2. is there going to be a 10% error on the 33bhp its self? for example i could pay say £200 to get it tested on the most accurate Dyno in the world, which may say it has 33bhp, so technically again im not riding with something more powerful than 33bhp. however if the police tested the bike on a more inaccurate dyno, it might come out at 36 bhp for example. so according to the police im not riding in accordance with my lisecence.

the whole law its self is not well thought out, and some changes need to be made. its so unspecific and clear. any thoughts would be much appreciated Smile.

thanks

Where it's measured isn't mentioned, but I expect they mean at the crank.

If you're dynoed and found to be over I think you'll still get done, unless you can persuade them to give you a retest on a different dyno.

yeah they don't say where but i think it would be at the wheel and the cops very rarly take your bike to check if its 33 bhp unless your riding like a compele tool or being really cheeky i think. because i they need to take you and your bike to the dyno then need to fill in all the extra paper work so its not worth there time unless you give them a good reason

exactly. it would cost a lot of money to do the test, and for the rear tyre i would claim back if it were to go the dyno.

well, specificaly no one gives a shit.

as long as youve got a proper dyno print out with 33rwhp written somewhere on it, youl be fine.

most police dont know the ins and outs of the rules anyway.

if your polite and dont get cought doing something really stupid youl be fine.

yeah i totally agree no one does give a shit really its not worth doin it
