Hi everyone, just signed up.
Totally new to biking (even at my age - 28!) I have recently purchased an old Suzuki GP100 and I'm doing it up before MOT.

I can't wait to get it on the road and enjoy the freedom of fishing trips without lugging my gear onto a bus or train; visiting family without having to pay for a B&B because of travelling.....

Hope to chat to some of you soon, anyone with any knowledge of the GP's give us a shout. Very Happy

TTFN,

Hey guys, thanks for the welcome.

I guess age really doesn't matter?? I've been wanting to get a bike for years but one thing or another has always stopped me so I'm glad I've finally got one.
It's a D plate so nearly as old as me !! (but in better condition ha ha ha)

Reuben, thanks for the offer but have just managed to get one from fleabay.

One thing someone could hopefully answer for me though, gearbox oil - it says in the book to use 20w/40 but this is no longer made. The guy in a shop said that I can use Castrol SAE 80, is t ok to use this?? I have no idea so any info will be cool.

Thanks all

Yeah, I was 27 when the DVLA finally caught up with me and demanded I do a CBT...I thought sod it and did the DAS...I knew so many old skool bikers who had never done the test, I never thought I'd need to either...ho hum.

Had I done it 10 years earlier, it would have been a simple ride round the block, emergency stop and here's your pass certificate Clanger.

Welcome Very Happy

No shame in riding a two stroke 100. GPs are good bikes, so long as they haven't been home 'tuned' by over enthusiastic 17 year olds Laughing If you're lucky you'll have a CDI model, and one with chrome (instead of painted) mudguards.

But it has a chrome chainguard Cool The GP100 I had was blue too. I went camping to Wales on it in the late 80s and it copped an 800 mile round trip with nay bother.

Also had a black/orange 125 for a while, but that was horrible and eventually holed a piston Shocked
