Hornets water cooled, where as the Bandit is oil cooled i think. I personally think the hornet looks better, (no bias there Razz).

Both built with budget suspension, brakes etc.

Not a bad little start into biking.

I prefer bandit. I prefer the looks - hornet is too thin for me, and has a hideous engine.

Hornet has a silly tank range.

And most importantly, hornet is horribly overpriced.

Get a Bandit - you know it makes sense - much cheaper ( I know there's a reason for that!) but great fun and look better IMO.

The Bandit is a basic bike, not trying to be pretty - doesn't have nasty plastic clocks, just strait forward unfared fun that lets you know when you're overdoing it.

Ditch the pair of them (and the SV) and go for a Fazer.

You KNOW it makes sense! Laughing Wink

Not any more, last year's model had a 17L tank, good for 150miles anyway.

The question is which colour Hornet do you want! (Yellow is the best if you ask me. Wink )
If you want a realy reason look at my experences, been on two track days and seen 3 other hornets out there, never seen a bandit!
The bandit just doesn't compaire to the Honda, In fun(ness), styling, and rust resistance!

Bandits: 250, 400, 1200 Thumbs Up

Bandit: 600 Thumbs Down

Although its economical, i think its a little underpowered for what it is, if they'd made it water cooled like its little brother, it would be great Twisted Evil , all the models corrode like nothing else, the tire size for the 400 and 600 is the same Question the bhp isn't quite with honda's hornet, i'd prob go with the hornet out of them two.

Mind you i do agree with those chanting SV and Fazer Drooling.

150 miles is still fairly pathetic. Tank range is what counts me out of thinking about a CBR600 for commuting to work. I get around 180 miles out of the 1200 Bandit fairly safely, about 170 from the Divvy (which is a pain), around 200 from the FZ750 and around 220 miles from a tank on Charlottes GPZ500S.

All the best

Keith

Gotta be Hornet - build quality alone wins it.

My mates Bandit 600 - 'T' plate and shoddy looking. My Hornet 600 - 'S' plate and beautiful!

Also, look at the residual values! The Bandits don't really compare do they??

Tank range - I agree, not so good but hey can't have it all!

Hornet Thumbs Up

Why? Looks for a start, then there's the weight issue (Bandit is 205kg, hornet is 178kg), Hornet handles slightly better than the Bandit, and the Hornet is up on power (hornet=90bhp+, bandit=75bhp+) same goes for torque.

Hi

Other point is that a Bandit is half the price of a Hornet as they really do depreciate quickly.

I own a 1200 Bandit and still think the Hornet is generally a better bike than the Bandit, but then it should be costing a fair amount more. However the Hornet tank range, for me, makes the bike fairly irrelevant.

All the best

Keith

My m8 has a Bandit 6, only thing i can say, it looks pretty good its had some bits done, but they seem 2 rust quick because of thin paint, brakes aren't great and the front end isn't up 2 much, mind it is a budget bike so...Hornet is quicker and will have Honda build quality which is good i bet its good even on a budget bike, has more power and lighter, each 2 there own thought.

I personally prefer the Bandit, it looks nice and has a retro "thang" going on too.

I go for the bandit as I prefer air cooled engines, don't ask me why...I just do. Laughing.

Boo - bike looks nice.

I am looking to upgrade in the next month or so and am seriously considering the hornet (the older style as it is narrower and therefore can get feet down better), for me the tank range is irrelivant after 100 miles or so I am gonna want to stop and rest my bum nad joints so that will give me a good excuse and the hornet is lighter and feels well balanced to me.
