Jesus h christ. Shocked

Not just luck, he aimed it on the fly instead of panicking and locking everything up.

I had a similar kind of near miss, the guy in the car jinking left as I jinked left saved my life. 80mph + 40mph would have seen me dead. It was weird, the scare was so deep it dumped zero adrenalin. I pulled over up the road and just felt totally empty.

I'm with Hetzer, luck doesn't come into it, his judgement was fucking superb though! Thumbs Up I think he did impact the traffic cone but obviously that's negligible..

I don't say this proudly as even though I ride very fast all of the time I considered myself to be relatively safe.
However recently in riding the CD200 and my mood and emotions being all over the place I haven't exactly been riding in the best way,
That is to say that clouded judgement has contributed to much erratic riding until lately.

I have been in 2 situations that mirror the one in the video, albeit at much lower speeds: Laughing
1. Filtering from college, from one set of traffic lights (crossroad) on a slight left hand kink to a crossing, Traffic was choc-a-block,
literally at a standstill..
Nether less I still thought it would be appropriate to be filtering at 20~25 mph.. Until the road straightened up to reveal an MPV half way between two lanes just ahead..
I locked the back, reapplied and realised I just wasn't going to stop in time,
it locked again and I kicked down on the road to the left as I went through the gap just behind the rear bumper (still locked).

2. Going downhill at about 60mph, parked cars on the right, Delivery van oncoming... I noted a estate in front...
the estate isn't moving, shit the estate has stopped to allow the van through.. (This just didn't register, the estate was fully stopped but hadn't had his brake lights on)
Cue me slowing to about 30 as fast as my shitty brakes could stop me before again realising I wasn't going to win..
I aimed at the oncoming van and sped up.. I then aimed for the gap between the front of the van and the estate's bumper.
There was just feet to spare. Rolling Eyes

These sort of situations are good and bad IMO, bad because you would rather not have them happen and they're the worst type of collision for all involved but good because;
A. It's a fucking good sign that you're being a knob and actually pushing your or your vehicles abilities, take it as a cue to calm down.
B. Sometimes you can amaze yourself, like Hetzer says adrenaline can just go straight out of the window... In a way I find it cool that I have been able to come out the other side, shows I'm still sharp.
(Though it's sharper to not get into the situations at all Laughing)
C. Hollywood effect (even though you look like a twat and everyone knows it, you don't want to stick around). Cool

That was quite close.

Amusing that he is happy to go that fast yet felt the need to respect the authority of the cones by not off-siding the lot of them....

Mac_Kaliba, i just plain dislike you, as a result i challenge you to a pointless and possibliy dangerous race to prove that you cant ride for shit....

Nah, I don't really agree with that, and I don't think all the roadworkers would either.

Agreed, good judgment wouldn't have seen him doing 250 on a public road with what appeared busy enough for him to consider others and slow the fuck down.
He could have taken a few with him if his ass wasn't so lucky.

I was actually thinking about this the other day after someone pulled out on me. I have a preference to dodge and head for the gap rather than jam on the anchors.
Granted not every situation offers the dodge/swerve option but I'm always on the look out for it
Shocked

I wouldn't say fucking superb and not luck at all really. If I was in the position then I would aim for the gap rather than risking locking up. You can see he had time to aim right and scrubbed off a lot of speed before hand.

Maybe he was lucky to not hit the car a little bit but I think that most of the people on here would be able to aim it in that direction and control it to a certain extent.

Ok cool, where, when, what are we riding?

On the judgement thing, I'll still stand by superb,
True it would have been 1000x more superbereererer if he had been riding appropiatly but he made it didn't he?
If you haven't gotten yourself into a similar situation and came out unscathed then I'm sorry,
you really don't know what your talking about.

I believe my current motorbike has a feature designed by Honda to stop this exact situation from happening Thumbs Up

(and yet it still happens, albeit at slower speed, once in a while, damn stupid other road users pulling out on us)

Where: Im in London, your on the borders of wales, i would suggest the lanes around Aylesbury/Bicester etc

When: Any time from 2 weeks

What: Well i have a 600, i suggest you borrow something similar or you will lose even faster. Failing that, if you cant get your hands on a proper bike, then... well you forfeit... Razz

The CD is enough of a proper bike to have you around my local Malvern hills I could promise you that much Wink
Hmmm, this may seriously have to happen one day you know,
Because whilst I can't get hold of anything mid sized any time soon I can't possibly be seen to forfeit.
Maybe I should just show up on the CD...

The terms of engagement should be fair! I'm sure you can both find equally spec'd bikes for one day?

Well you are welcome to try on your CD, but you will lose quicker than you would on a 600... mind you it would give you an excuse as to why you lost.

If anyone on BCF is willing to lend me something small and ineffectual to match his POS or lend him a 600...

Mac_Kaliba, this will definately happen at some point, if only so you stop with the self glorifying ace biker bullshit.

I will do you through traffic, on the lanes and no quarter will be given Twisted Evil
