 |

Found one of these: APRILIA RXV 550 ENDURO
https://image.automotive.com/f/features/8777900+pheader/141_0607_02_z+2007_aprilia_rxv_450_&_550+side_body_shot.jpg
Cons:
1) It has a rumble from engine that goes when away when the clutch is pulled in.
2) It has become a temperamental starter.
3) It obviously needs a full engine breakdown and rebuild/check.
Pros:
1) Its certainly 'different'.
2) It is light but powerful
3) Its a 2007 bike - so everything other than engine is fine.
4) Its cheap (I think it will go for below 2k)
My question is more advice/your thoughts wanted really:
Even if it needs a full rebuild ... and I do most of it myself ... whats that going to cost ? £800 ish.
If thats the case, then it would make a nice garage project to get running nicely and then I would have a light, torquey, different looking bike for under 3k ????
Good idea?
Bad idea? ____________________ There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffa tape.

Light - listed as 128kg dry, which is 10kg lighter than my 690 would weigh on the scales no fuel as stock. And my bike has lots of road stuff and 3000 mile service intervals.
If you do a lot of the work your self, probably could do it cheapish.
But, seriously, compared to the ownership experience I've heard many have with these there are much more fun things to do.
For instance, using this for an hour a day:
https://torture.justsickshit.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/virgin-torture-device.jpg
It would certainly be very fast, but I'd be wary.
I know I would have a hell of a lot more fun on a 2 stroke for the vast majority of things - the Aprilia would probably be quite good for desert racing or very skilled riders in enduros, but wouldn't be my weapon of choice.
Remember being a twin you're talking two cam chains, lots of fiddly bits and other hassle for your rebuild. |

omg, no please don't do it... that will be a pig on an enduro
but i honour you thinking of something "different"
unlike most SHEEP that automatically go for "orange"
funny thing is, most of these SHEEP can't ride for shit, and it always good burning past a fag that goes with the crowd.
(sorry actually bar the 300 exc because that would be my dream ride if i had the cash )
if your really serious about doing an enduro (a decent one - not some track that is a wide as the M25) then a small displacement 2 stroke is the way forward, you will regret a 4 stroke after you've picked the fucker up about 30 times.
just my little input. ____________________ Current Bikes - BMW S1000RR ‘17 & KTM 690 SMC-R ‘12 |
