My partner really needs to carry on typing out her essay for Uni. I had with my new laptop a copy of Office 2007. I tried doing a 60 day trial online but it wont get past the screen asking for Active X, seems to not link to the download. Confused

I really need to get something working so she can finish.
Any ideas?
I downloaded Active X separatly and that didnt work either.

Just download openoffice, it should be able to open your saved word files, and gets rid of this problem entirely.

Another vote for openoffice.

If you need to share it on PCs rather than actually install it on each PC then try the portable version from PortableApps.
You can run this from a USB memory stick so can carry it around and use it on any PC you have access to as required.

It'll read/open Office documents and save in that format as well if required. Another plus I find is it'll save directly into pdf.
