riding with a broken hand

so last weekend i broke my right hand and ever since it's been doing my head in. tomorrow i go for an xray to see how it's healing. i really want to ditch the cast and go ride my new bike (tomorrow) so i was thinking would it be ok after a week? and has anybody ever riden with a broken hand them selves? obviously i gonna cut the cast off myself

My flat mate cut off a cast after about 6 days after getting it (it was to pink for him hah) and that was about 6-7 months ago and it's giving him lots of greif...

Getting the cast off to soon will cause problems and suffering in the short and long term, its there for a reason so stick it out or be prepared.

Not worth it if you ask me...

I broke my collar bone off roading (on a moped ) and was riding again after 16 days (was supposed to give it 42 days - six weeks). It still hurt at that point and I could have buggered myself if I'd crunched it again. I wouldn't have ridden on the road in that state (I was too young to ride on the road at that point anyway).

A few years ago I broke the 5th metacarpal on my left hand falling downstairs whilst a little tipsy. Went to the hospital next day, and they told me to go back in a week, but didnt do anything else. I duly went back, whereby they fitted a dirty great big cast, which was a bit of a bugger cos I had driven myself there, and now had to change gear with my right hand all the way home...... Anywho, I got bored with the cast within a week and cut it off. To be honest other than it being a bit tender, it wasnt too bad, and have had no long term effects from it
