hornet, fzs fazer or other suitable 6?

hi everyone, im oliver, 6'3", all legs short body.

im doing my das in the next month and im after a bit of advice what to go for.

i need loads of leg room, seriously i well out of proportion its freakish. im 6'3" but sat down no taller then a 5'7" kinds guy, every car i drive is seat all the way back and then some. you get the idea! lol

am i right in thinking ive heard the hornets suits the smaller rider?

i have fallen in love, literaly fallen in love with a fazer i saw the other day, omg it was delicious. they look great anyway but in the black and gold colours... drooling happened. this is the bike i would love to own however, i havent visted any showrooms that have had one in. im talking of the FZS fazer, the earlier incarnation. 99-04 i think.

anyone reccomend any other 600 for a first time big biker, great alround is what im after and plenty of space, reliability and price below 2k prefereably cheaper.

I'd advise going to a few dealerships or a bike show etc, and try sitting on as many different bikes as you can.

I have a Bandit6, and can put my feet flat on the floor even though I'm only 5ft9in, so dunno if it'd be too short for you?!

im looking for 75hp + ive ridden bike for a long time and want something with alot of play and flexability in it. also wanna scare myself a bit

its more about legroom on the bike when moving as aposed to when stationary, im on a honda cg125 atm so my knees are 90 degrees to the floor when stationary lol but surpiringly the is unlimiet thigh room on it for me which was a surprise. i think a faired bike would hamper such luxuries and i would probably go for a naked bike.

any more suggestions?

bandits are pretty comfy for us taller lads,
engine is a peach, not particuly powerful, but reliable as they come,
with the advantage of being able to drop in any other oil boiler suzuki engine in, gsxr750 1100 1200 ect ect, so easy to upgrade later

they are pretty easy to get parts for, and cheap to buy, you should get change from 1k

I never see it suggested, so maybe it's just me that finds it spacious, but at 6ft I find my Thundercat to be wonderfully comfortable (and that's with a trashed knee that doesn't like being bent up too much...).

Pretty cheap to come by as well, and I'm finding it a lot of fun to play with.

I'm in a similar boat to you and tbh, the best solution I found was an enduro/supermoto. It's a case of jump on and see for yourself really, my Futura had acres of legroom and was all day comfy, whereas I find the ZX9 surprisingly cramped.

Make sure you try sitting on the Blandit, I found the pegs were way too high, especially in comparison with the Fazer.

Can't fault my fazer (2002). Should be plenty of leg room, I'm 6ft 2"

hornets are quite a bit smaller i think than most (having said that i had to get a cut down seat for mine haha)

thanks for the advice people, i thought about a bandit (sorry blandit as there refered too lol) but like people have said ill have to have a sit on a few and see. its peg to seat difference which is important if im struggling i could always have the seat redone for an inch or two more leg room.

fazers are friggin beautiful i really want one, you dont find em less then a grand though or even near for a nice x reg sort of thing, im after the gold and black paint job preferably if anyone has one for sale!

i have a 37" inside leg length, and i found the bandit pretty comfy,
i have never owned one so im not biased in that respect, i did have one for a couple of weeks commuter duty while my bikes were off the road,
its gets a "bland reputation" because so many people have them, not really because they are bland, the power delivery is sweet, no surprises, and more than enough grunt for pretty much anything,
not the fastest 600 out there, but reliability wise i doubt you'd get any better,

if i only had a k to spend, thats the direction i'd be looking,

I am 6 foot 4 inches and find the bandit comfortable.

As for bland, I guess it depends on the rider

It is very chuckable in the twisties, if you want better acceleration then go down a tooth on the front sprocket. I have left the sprockets as standard as I find it is good for my riding style.

this arguement goes on all the time it seems, the bandit that it.

i just had a look closely at them, i think there ugle to be honest, and sorry to say but they do look bland. i want a bike i can admire aswell as ride i think, i figure if im spending all that money i wanna be in love with the thing.

any other bike suggestions for me to look at?

looks like you have already decided,
not much point trying to steer you into the light
your the one who will have to live with the bike day in and day out,
i doubt you'd get a fazer for under a k though, where you'll easily get a bandit, and you'll have change, to buy a tank of gas, some booze and a set of tyres as well.

you never know! i might just have to go for a cheaper option while i save up, there reliable enough the bandits, sure they get a bit crappy if you dont keep em clean and run em through winter. f*ck it ill just have to see what i can afford, dsa booked for 23/24th then mod1 and 2. cant wait! any other less then a grand bits of fun?
