Ok guys
I thought i would share and show how my progress has been using the above mentioned method of removing heavy rust
Well the part in the question is the centre stand, which after 20 years has been expose to all weathers.
I don't have a picture, ( of should of at this stage) but as you can imagine, its heavily rusted just like as you would have seen on Robby's electrolysis page how to.
After following these steps, I have my set up as shown

This is the power supply i'm using - an old car battery charger set to max and after 20 mins is drawing about 3 amps

Once done i will take a picture of the centrestand to see how it goes. I have planned on leaving this on for 2-3 days
The main problem is that the shaft thats holding the stand to the frame has siezed, so i'm hoping to be able to pop it out this way once the rusted has been reomoved
What you think, would it work? |

ok guys, after 3 days in the soup, this is the result
Not bad and the rust has virtually all disapeared.
So a pretty good way of going about it!
Shame i didnt get the centrestand shaft off so i hacked it off the frame instead, gonna take it to work and weld a rod on it as a lever to rotate it and hopefully it will slide out, might have to use the blowlamp as well!
