every suzuki ive ever had last was a gsxr1100 all running well then died then kicked back in at about 10000rpm in 2nd gear lifts front wheel skywards at such a huge pace i almost flipped it not good in a 30mph zone never will i own a suzuki for myself again altho i have got a couple im breaking at the min but never to keep

The least reliable bike I ever had was a C90 Cub. Everything that possibly could go wrong with the vile piece of crap did. Quite amazing considering their reputation for Swiss watch-like efficiency.

Running the 90 a close second is the H100A I had. The engine components appeared to be made of cheese and chocolate.

Bought a new Norton Commando Interstate in 1972, what a load of shite.The thing seized on me two-up at 90 on the Oxford by-pass, the chrome fell off the fork legs within weeks, the swinging-arm spindle wasn't secured in the engine plates which resulted in oval holes and a big job, it peed oil out, it stripped the threads out of the exhaust ports, the advance/retard unit fell to bits, the seat broke, the disc brake was rubbish. If anybody like those damn' things they must want their heads reading, they were crap then and now they're just old crap.

My ZX7R seemed to have the most problems yet my ZXR 750 also conked out on more than one occassion and required a long, long push or a flat bed rescue.

First big bike, mental power after a 125 yada, yada, yada..

Should never have bought a 'project' bike when on a budget. I spent a cheeky grand on this in 2003 only to realise it had had about 17 previous owners and each had their own ideas of bodges. The brakes were all seized, the suspension was shagged and it would cut out and refuse to start for approx. 10 mins every now and then.

I still miss it though... H***VTO where are you?...

Only had 1 bike for any length of time but it lets me down a lot.

It has just been off the road for 6 months (only got it back 2 days ago).

Oil leak coming from clutch cover casing.
Got it repaired under warranty.
Oil leak again from same place.
Got it repaired again.
Oil leak yet again from same place.
Just got this repaired for a 3rd time, which cost me £450 !!!!!

Water leak, same time as oil leak (the 3rd one).
Flat battery (my own fault)
Fucked starter soleniod.
Broken seat lock which had my disc lock in it (so didn't fancy leaving it somewhere unsecured).

The bike has actually been off the road more since I have owned it that it has been on the road.

Had it back for 2 days so far, we'll see how long it holds up before something goes wrong again.

shit cams and dodgy big ends have plagued my honda ownership

The GSX, but I knew what I was getting into when I brought a 25 year old bike as a project.

Most issues are down to 25 years of bodges. When the bike was in it's original frame, it was on the road last in 2006. As the frame was so bad (i've seen it), the last owner brought a powder coated frame with a V5 and used the bike to build up this frame.

I brought it as an unfinished project and had numerous bodges to rectify. Some still need looking at:

Some of the bolts for the front sprocket cover are 2.5 inches long and go into the engine. When removed, oil pees out of the bolt hole. Been told it's a seal but it causes no issues when riding the bike.

External oil hoses leak. Hard to find replacements.

Intake rubbers need replacing but are stuck to the engine. Don't want to round the screws off.

Carb needs re-jetting back to the standard size as it runs rich.

Bike cuts out when it's too hot when idling. That is annoying but a good thing as it'll never overheat!!!!! Could be mixture or ignition related. My remedy is to source a bigger oil cooler with a fan one day.


Still, it's a love-hate relationship. I recently helicoiled almost every exhaust thread. I can tell you that it worked 100% no problems and for the first time in years, the downpipes do not blow. It's very easy to do.

I can also recommend MOSFET reg rec's. A fantastic and reliable upgrade to the electrical system. The one for the GSX cost £60.

I recently rewired the main feed to the fusebox. The main feed now comes directly from the battery to an inline fuse. The reg rec is connected after this fuse and I can say, the performance has improved dramatically!!!!

The fused link also serves as an isolation switch. Just remove the fuse and it disconnects the battery from the bike.

Cooling system burst, then after I fixed that at great expense, all the electrics died. Fixed them with a lot of time and the head gasket went, then the cam chain sprocket bolts were rounded, and the head had warped.

Great bike when it worked.

My brother had some Chinese imported trail bike, was a cracker, never had any problems with it for the few years he owned it.

The worst bike I have ever owned is by far my RS125, it was a total nightmare. Cost me roughly £800 in parts and labour over the year I owned it and I only paid £1600 for it. Was a 2005 model with 4,000 miles on it when I bought it. It just kept munching pistons and need the cylinder head replacing at £200 a pop. Needed a new exhaust as well.

I sold it for £1300 in the end. It actually cost me £800 more than I paid for it
