Petrol tank. Clearing air bleed pipe

I got this stuff called metal rescue to clean out the tank as there's a bit of surface rust in there. Anyway, after a few hours it all leaked out and was useless lol. It did work a bit though as it came out really brown a full of particles. Any way I rinsed it out this morning and dried it out but I think the air bleed pipe is blocked. I tried pushing a legnth of wire in there but it only went a few inches and come out filthy. Next step is an air line but I'm not sure it'll work. I sprayed some plus gas in but it didn't do anything.

Where does the pipe come out at the lid, is it the 2 holes just inside the lid? Cos it's all clear there.

There's also a hole on the outside of the lid but don't know what that's for? I was thinking about drilling a hole straight down into the bleed area (hoping it's double skinned) then it'll bleed air from the top not from the pipe below but that's a last resort.

Any suggestions?

I suspect what you are poking is in fact a drain for water. Generally not a good sign if blocked because it's a metal tube running through your tank and if it rusts through it dumps water into your petrol. absolute mare to fix.

The drain tube may be a part of the filler neck. This normally can be removed.

The most dificult bit is waggling the fuel level sensor float thingy.

The drain line may come out the tank near the fuel supply line.
Modern bikes have a Quick coupler on them so disconnect these and then the rubber hose from the drain and whip the tank off.

It may be possible to work at the blockage from the outlet end rather than the inlet.

Plus-gas, WD40, Penetrant etc. and copious amounts of patience.

Cool I'll give that a go. The tank is already off and the tubes and filler are all part of the tank. And I don't have a level sensor. I was sticking some cable in the outlet underneath but the cable wasn't very flexible.
