 |
|
So I know you can play around with the sprockets to altar how your bike does its job, and I'm quite certain that you can increase the already sufficient acceleration of say your GSX-R600, but I was under the impression that there's a level of acceleration where if you cross it, your front wheel is lifting, which I was also under the impression that having one wheel on the ground results in slower acceleration
I don't have a bike powerful enough to wheelie with just its power alone, so can someone explain to me what it's like with the maximum acceleration/wheelying thing?
How will playing around with sprockets help increase your acceleration? Or is my secondary information invalid?
I'm aware that you can extend the swingarm, but I'm talking otherwise ____________________ These MC's wanna diss my baby mum

Dropping the gearing will eventually mean that 2nd gear becomes the same as 1st used to be and so on. With first at such a low level the bike will probably be impossible to control at close to wide open throttle.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |

If you gear the bike down to get more accelleration, and hit a point where you can't use more power without lifting the wheel, you can use a few tricks to help keep the front down.
You can reduce the tendency to wheelie by putting more rider weight over the front. You can just lean forward to move the rider weight or fit lower bars to naturally move your bodyweight forward. You can also reduce the pressure in the front tyre, really only good for dragracing as it will affect the normal handling of the bike.
You can lower the bike on the front or as a whole by dropping the forks through the yokes to lower the front or by changing the dogbones on some models to lower the rear or by other methods. This will lower the bike's center of mass.
You can soften the pre-load on the front and rear suspension. A harder suspension will make for easier wheelies, a softer one will make them harder.
You can use lowering straps on the front suspension to pull the front down and stop the forks extanding so the springs aren't 'helping' the front to lift. Not advisable on the road - really only a dragracing trick. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Oh right. Thanks for clearing that up
Now for my next question, what gears will lift the front wheel with power alone? On top end superbikes of course
Not including Tonyts' bike that will wheelie off just power in 7th ____________________ These MC's wanna diss my baby mum

To do that you need a LOT of power. If you geared the bike low enough to lift in 6th then 1st and 2nd would be useless to you. Only thing it would be any good for is stunting.
I doubt you could actually get a suitably small front and large rear sprocket on most bikes to achieve it TBH. The chain would rub on something.
You could do it by putting a good bit of weight over the rear I guess, or shortening the swing-arm. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
