I was just about to put one of those in Wapping to stop vehicles rat running at peak hours to avoid The Ratcliffe Highway, but our new chief exec had just come from Newham where they have had terrible problems with the one that closes East Ham High Street. She put the kibosh on it.

Ancient 80's ford cargo, probably with a corroded chassis.

Would like to think lorry crash resistance has come on a little since then.

Food for thought, though quite why you would be steaming flat out into a rising bollard is another question entirely.

Well, those bollards seem to just come out of nowhere. A couple of independent witnesses to this effect and the lorry driver would have a successful claim against the bollard owners, 100% in his favour.

That was aired over 3 years ago, prefer a proper gate than a bollard to protect my property from terrorist attacks.

Or both, some of the larger estates I visit, have rising bollards behind a solid gate. You have to wait for the bollards to drop before the gates can open over them.

Only snag is they are a real pain in the arse when they break down, and unlike just a gate, you can't override them easily.

Maybe they should update the test to make it more realistic.

How about a 90's ford cargo loaded up with illigal immigrants.......
