yet again the joys of living in London are distinctly outweighed by the sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when you can see as you approach your bike it is not in the position you left it in Evil or Very Mad

https://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab349/slyrob/07da808a.jpg

this time no note on the bike Middle Finger Middle Finger Middle Finger Middle Finger Middle Finger Middle Finger Middle Finger Middle Finger Middle Finger Middle Finger

happy as I am that in my first six months of biking I have as yet not dropped or crashed my bike, it appears that somebody else is making up for me! Clapping

maybe I'll airbrush something similar onto the new fairing but then I would possibly have to stab myself for having an airbrushed bike Smile

Considered putting a cheap alarm on it? (preferrably one that runs in parallel with your existing wiring etc, as being stranded somewhere due to a fancy alarm that you can't unplug is bad juju). Anyone jostling up against it/otherwise not taking care will set it off, and hopefully give it enough room from then on!

Won't help much if someone reverses into it (bar the increased liklihood they'll leave details as some people may have looked round and they don't want to be done for leaving the scene - that is of course assuming quite a lot of things - like them actually having insurance for a start but hey-ho you could be lucky) - but will help more if passersby/other bikers regularly go past and knock against it. They won't do it again if the alarm goes off!

And regarding that note: I'm the sort of guy very likely to give details if i damage something (i'd like to think i'm not stupid and/or careless enough to in the first place, but things do happen i guess). But that note would put me right off as i would picture a huge bastard that will attack me or something for my little mistake - a "punch first ask questions later" person.

Other idea: Get a hack you don't mind being banged up for London commuting and parking?

the first time this happened to me - GPz 550 circa 1991 in Portsmouth - I was INCANFUCKINGDESCANT with rage - i can't tell you

fortunately, the guy over the road had seen it (Harley rider) and let me know what had happened - woman up the road who came back drunk late at night - she fessed up and coughed up... but the pain was deep

on a related theme, we bought a new 1.4 TSI Golf last year... very nice... BUT!!!! it's been driven into FOUR TIMES in car parks in Cambridge so far... we gave up paying to get the scratches painted out after the third time

but the first cut was the deepest... no doubt!

My bike has been knocked over once, the feeling in your stomach is so bad. It really annoys me that people will knock over someone elses property and then just walk away, at least be kind enough to put a note on the other persons property saying sorry and were they live so I can go and punch them. Laughing
