i am looking to lower the rear of my zl1000 and cant find any shocks that would do it, doe's anyone know of a way to do it on this bike. thanks Confused

measure the legnth of your shocks then go to
https://www.hagon-shocks.co.uk/main1st.htm
and send them a message, telling them the bike you have, the stock legnth of your shocks and the new size you want
a set of custon legnth shocks should cost you 120 quid including postage

Yes! I have rear shocks from a Vulcan 750 on my ZL1000. I was parting out a Vulcan 750 and noticed that the shocks looked almost exactly the same except that the Vulcan shocks were 1" shorter. They fit perfectly and look stock. They lowered the bike nicely with the added benefits of better cornering and it sits on the sidestand much better. You can find the shocks used on eBay & Craig's List or new at Kawasaki. Try it, you'll like it!

Here's a pic of my bike with the Vulcan 750, (VN750), shocks installed. No problems with rear tire interference even with the 170/80-15 tire.

Get a smaller (lower) seat. (or take a knife to it and cut out some foam)

At least it won't mess with the handling too much

what about upsidedown front ends. any clue which one will be the most suitable

To lower your bike simply remove the spring from the shock. Then take your current forks, turn em upside down and use some of this to stick your wheel, brakes and bars on.

You call that lowered? If you can see a gap between the top of the tyre and the subframe its not low enough.



OP, I have heard a lot about specifically designed rubber damper units with a very short length for this kind of thing, gives a stiffer ride ofcourse because theres no spring, just the damper part of the shock, but the look good and you can lower it a lot more than replacement shocks as theres less travel in it.

This is what the Eliminator looked like before the shorter shocks were installed. With the Vulcan shocks it looks lower to me, but still close enough to stock that it's hard to tell.

BTW- this bike is for sale. It's got new tires & battery and has had a fresh oil & filter change. The carbs have been rebuilt and synchronized, the valves have been properly adjusted and the K&N air filter has been cleaned and re-oiled. All work was done by a certified Kawasaki tech. Runs out great. Just add gas and go... fast. $3200. Located in St.Paul, MN
