 |
|
I am posting this to let you know that our campaign against Westminster's vile tax imposed on bikers by charging them to park in their borough, is organising a mass ride out on Saturday 19th June 2010.
WE WILL BE DOING A FULL LAP OF THE M25 and estimate that there will be anywhere between 2,000 and 5,000 bikes turning out.
We want to demonstrate to Westminster councillors that there is not only local opposition to this tax, but that our brothers and sisters nationwide are firmly behind us. I sincerely hope that you and your friends will be able to join us.
Full details of the ride out will shortly appear on our website www.notobikeparkingtax.com, but I thought I would give you the heads up now to give you a chance to organise yourselves, so that hopefully you will be able to come along.
We want to get two messages across and with your help I'm sure we will achieve it. Our messages are:
SCRAP THE TAX!
and
DON'T MESS WITH THE BIKERS!
Stay cool
Bald Eagle
P.s. if you want to see what we've been up to for the last two years, click on the link below or search notobikeparkingtax on youtube and watch any of the dozens of videos of protests we have taken part in.

Does that mean you twats are gonna stop clogging up London every Wednesday morning so the rest of us can get to bloody work on time, without being glared at like we're some kind of fuckin lunatics? Jesus, I got less glares riding with the Hells Angel funerals.
Fucks sake the number of times I have to cuss at car drivers and shout at them "I'm not one of them protesting cunts, I'm just trying to get to fuckin work, like you."
If I'm in any of your photos, its cos I'm fucking stuck in the traffic jams you cunts create, not cos I'm with you load of pricks.
Wish somebody would tell that to the lorry drivers that try to cut my legs off just cos they haven't noticed I've not got a fucking yellow vest on.

Mmm,
I dont think there are many alternatives to get the governments attention, they really dont give a f*ck whatever you do so in a way peoples anger at the situation is providing the pressure which only these people can relieve and its about the only way you can get the attention of the government.
Shame this country/government is so f*cked up, i'd be happier if diplomatic points could be put accross and be taken notice of without having to inconveinience half the capital, that really does blow but surly you can see their point.
Its a sad state of affairs and I totally understand why your p*ssed at the situation, anyone would if it were in their face week after week.
Stage a protest against them on alternate days

Saturday, 11am...all ride to the main streets, park up in the road and go to mcdonalds...sorted
Keeps them clogged for a while, in that time you can go grab 20 nuggets and a coke.

good on ya, we had a protest ride here in nz, they were putting up the registration costs on motorbikes, we managed 15000 bikers (which is no mean feat in a country as small as nz) but we descended on parliament
clogging all wellington roads from every direction.
and the tax go dropped,
so it can work, will it work in the uk?? f knows,
there are more than enough bikers to make a difference,
but will you??? ____________________ the humans are dead

They already did that. All they succeeded in doing was annoying about 5000 other motorists off in Trafalgar Square every Wednesday morning (including myself )
Or maybe I'm wrong. Whatever they believe they have achieved with their protests in central London, going round the M25 isn't gonna really be much different, except, as pointed out by those with L plates, they're losing many of their potential allies by going somewhere the L plate riders can't go.
If it was congestion charge they were protesting about, I'd be with them. |
Unless they hog all 3 lanes, doing 50 mph with 2 bikers in each lane can you imagine >1000 bikes doing that... the traffic would be horrendous!
Also..should purposely use the dartford crossing over and over.. they only allow 1 bike thru at a time per booth... the time wasting lol |

I have been one of them blocking you on a few wednesday mornings hellkat
If you are on a bike you could get through, no one protested against the congestion charge and now its here for good.
And bollocks to the pissed of car drivers, if they are the kind to deliberately try to take out other bikers over being held up then they would have done it anyway.
We are a nation of sheep, and whats worse is the government/society at large is turning us into self-regulating sheep.
Instead of supporting various protests we turn against them and support the status-quo, i have noticed this mentality in petrol prices too... Last few years protests now everyone just seems to blindly accept (well its never going down), when 70% of it is tax and oil is cheaper per barrel than last year when it was a pound a litre.
Also by now everyone knows trafalgar square is a no go on wednesday mornings... ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

It's not a tax, it's a parking charge. And, it's only £1 a day, compared to £1 per 15min cars pay.
Being able to park free is a privilege, not a right. ____________________ My other bike's a Monster... |

And what of the flock of sheep which goes pointlessly round and round in circles whilst having someone else's political agenda dictated to them?
Doing your own thing as a biker, eh.
Yes, good, keep doing it.
Is it your thing you are doing? Or is it that of someone with more political ambition than you realise?
I may be moaning about you lot cluttering the place up, but you don't see me paying to park in Westminster, do you. I did it once and was not thrilled about it, now I just don't go there, I park outside or I park up illegally and dodge tickets/appeal them all (75% success rate so far).
You activists are not hitting them where it hurts: in their pockets.
You are hitting them where they can take the punches, by getting under the skin and in the guts of other more irate motorists, none of whom the Council take any notice of EITHER : Westminster parking attendants? Oh yes, those would be the ones who put tickets on lorries, vans, trucks and cars as well as bikes. ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Tax: A fee charged ("levied") by a government on a product, income, or activity.
Sounds like a tax to me. Either way its not important thats just semantics.
Using the comparison with car charges is incredibly weak, Perhaps if car drivers were more organised they would not be charged exortionate amounts.
The tax was initially more, they backed down somewhat which is why its "only" 1 pound a day now.
Furthermore i have a problem with not only being charged for something that was free, to generate revenue for a council, but more worryingly the only method of payment is with a mobile phone and a debit/credit card. Now while i posess both of these im sure there are some that dont. Sometimes i may have no money in my account nor credit on my phone to call the premium rate number, so what if i need to park then?
Also recent reports show how unsecure the whole phone payment system is in regards to your details.
Funny that alot of things we once considered to be rights are now rapidly dwindling priviledges...
Its really quite clever to foster a social atmosphere in which an (increasing) part of the population seem to administer by proxy the removal of our rights and freedoms. disgusting and repugnant but clever all the same.
Edit: HK: So what you disagree with the tax but dont like the way this campaign is going about it? I live right on the doorstep of westminsters patch it would be nice to avoid them but sometimes needs must, same with the disruption causing. Treat us like cars and we will congest like cars....
You know the funny thing the wednesday mornings at trafalgar square are not really going round and round the roundabout but just not filtering and giving car like space, after a few minutes the bendy buses take over the work... ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

I agree: needs must, I have to go thru there as well, going the long way round would just be as much of an inconvenience.
What I mostly object to is the OTHER road users thinking that I am one of the protestors, when in fact I do my own thing and protest in my own way.
And yes, the bendy buses are equally as annoying. But they have more wheels and car drivers cannot mistake them for "the wrong sort" of bendy buses, whereas they can and often do mistake myself for one of you lot, fortunately so far it has not come to blows, but my temper will only be pushed so far, and it would be just some little dickwad in a car to set me off on a rant rampage
Ultimately, I believe that the campaign is/has been pointless because after this long its blatantly obvious that Westminster Council is taking sweet F.A. notice. There's *always* an inconvenience, a traffic jam, a bomb, an accident, an incident, to disrupt traffic in Westminster. You guys are no different. So it seems pointless to protest the way you are.
Like I said: hitting them in their pockets would make so much more meaningful an impact upon them. But I have no idea how that could be orchestrated, as so many of you (us) use the area, it being so central.
Conversely ... if it were congestion charge, I would most likely find myself there protesting with you
Contrary, moi?
Do what ya have to, guys, to make it feel right for yourselves. But if I get off the bike and give one of youse a mouthful, at least you'll know why. I'm frustrated too (just for different reasons).
