I really can't stand that man. Hopefully he'll die on air doing some stupid stunt one day along side David Bland.

You've got to give him credit to how much he's achieved "career" wise though, and hence how much money he has made from people. If I had those skills I would probably use them too.

I saw him perform 'Something wicked this way comes' a few years ago. I was fascinated by the whole thing and tried to keep an open mind. He was quick, witty and very convincing in what he done. I found his mannerisms with the people he got out of the crowd to be charming too.

I then watched the televised version of the show, recorded in a different theatre to the one I saw him at. Literally EVERYTHING was the same, the banter with people, the things you thought were accidental and personal to the people involved... everything. An example being when he gets the five people out with 4 white balls and the black ball. At our show he greeted one girl with a handshake and he said 'Im awfully sorry but you were bullied at school', same on TV. The same person in the line got the black ball in both shows also.

He is a fantastically talented master of deceit there is no doubt about it but he is insincere and is definately taking the piss right out of all of us!

Have you considered that it might be part of the ploy? I have no idea how he does what he does, but a lot of what he says and the way he acts is usually for a reason leading to the desired effect. If a magician is going to saw a woman in half, then I can guarantee that when he does the show the week after, he's going to use the same lines, same movements and the same sleight of hand or whatever in order to perform the illusion, so I doubt it's any different for Mr Brown.

I think a lot of people get offended by him because they take it very personally, for some bizarre reason unknown to me. It makes me laugh because people say "oh he's full of shit, he cant do this or that", which is amusing since at the start of his shows he begins with "what you are about to see is a combination of magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship", so effectively telling you it is a trick.

Anyway, this upcoming thing is quite different from his normal stuff, so should be pretty interesting going from the adverts, regardless of whether you like him for his normal stuff or not.

It is fairly obvious what he does. I am not saying I could do it but you can see. I saw the one with the newspaper thing at the end and you could he hear using the names of the paper in sentences and relating stuff to them. Very clever and 99.9% of people are susceptible.

I do get what you are saying, its not as if I was expecting a different show. The things he did the same were mostly the stuff you thought was accidental, which kind of takes the shine off it. After all we all know there is no magic here especially when he 'analyses' two completely different people with the same lines 'Theres the walk of shame' etc.

Like I said, I do like what he does and I think he is very good at it. I just dont think its the amazing spectacle that it used to be.

His shows have certainly lost the sparkle they originally had, all in all I thought "The events" was shit, and that one where he did the horse racing thing, they were all less illusionary head fucks and more "ahhh but what I didn't tell you was this!" or they definitely looked scripted which is, well, fucking gay.

His show in Edinburgh last month was well up to spec though, I was reading around and it seems for some reason they keep cutting his budgets and freedom to do what he wants with regards to his TV shows, probably due in part to a lot of H&S bollocks, but maybe thats why his TV stuff has gone gash, whereas his live stuff is still good.

That scousers first reading looked promising, I kept an open mind and thought, "hmm, he's nailed everything there". As the show went on, it became more and more apparent that he was just like the rest of them, a cold reading bell end.

I'm a massive fan of Derren Brown and have seen just about everything he's done and some of his more recent stuff is a bit shite but there's no denying the guy has some exceptional talent, it's just a case of finding new ways to bring it to the TV without it being boring.

I love the way the scouser had seen the Hollyoakes bird drive into the car park in the mini and he brought it up. The best part about the whole show was a few weeks after it, they found out the first reading that was so impressive, his sister actually lived next door to them hahaha. He said, "I do allot of readings in Liverpool and it must of been a co-incidence". What? A co-incidence that his sister lived next door to them and he kind of forgot about that fact?

Bloody scousers Thumbs Down
