how many times have you crashed??
and how llog have you been riding,
whats your average crash rate

number of crashes / number of years riding

****** crashes on dirt bikes off road not counted.. (i'd be in the hundreds Sad )*******

crashing includes any time the bike ends up on its side or hitting something and coming off the bike, or damaging the bike even if you don't fall off,
but does not include loosing your footing in the garage, driveway, gas station ect unless you were moving (eg accidently let go of the clutch when you thought you were in neutral)

any way poll is for total crashes

Hi

1987 - Straight on at a corner on my H100

1988 - Going round a roundabout a car came straight onto the roundabout into the side of me

1989 - Dropped my MBX125 on a T junction.

1989 - Flicked off my CB400 on a partly surfaced road (went along just beside where it had been surfaced, raised part caught on the edge of the tyre and flicked the bike over).

1994 - Dropped my FZ750 when the front wheel went into a pot hole in snow.

2005 - Dropped my FZR600 coming out of work. Front wheel just slid away and not a clue what really happened (new tyres and cold, but I wouldn't expect that to have caused to front end to slide at such low speeds with so little effort).

So 6, 5 of which were my fault. Few others where I didn't actually fall off.

All the best

Keith

Riding 7 years with an average crash rate of once every 2 years (more often than not in the month of september.

The reason for this is that I usually spend my summer holidays visiting my folks back in Indonesia where the traffic is barbaric - I don't ride when I'm over there, I drive, but the driving standards leave something to be desired. So when I get back to the UK, the desire to ride my bike after quite some time takes the better of me.

ZXR250 - Lowside on roundabout getting knee down! Broken brake lever and scuffed paneling. I was fine, no injuries - Sept 05

ZX6R - Lowside into car on roundabout exit due to poor weather conditions, oil on road and egerness to catch mate. Bike effectively a write off - EVERY panel smashed, dented downpipes and end can, holed generator cover. I was fine, no injuries - Sept 07

929 Blade - Target fixation - apexed a bend realising it tightened. Target fixation towards bend exit (the bend tightened on itself, kinda like a "N" profile- right hander") took me over a piece of farmland which jutted out (the \ bit in the N) - went over the field, over the road, and into a ditch. Bike was totally unscratched other than dirt - rider was fine - March 10.

Crashing is a bit of a confidence knocker but it reminds me to not take the piss - if you notice all of the above scenarios are clearly my fault and could have been totally avoidable. Sad

If the bike has to hit the ground to signify a crash, then I've only had one. My second crash was into a milk float. As I filtered past he turned into me.

Ah right. I managed to leave the road and go into a field (about 5' below the road) without coming off the bike. Pure luck not to come off the bike (landed in the field, realised I was still upright, so carried on riding to a gate from the field).

All the best

i only dropped about a foot, landed then crapped off, and left the bike to slide into the fence, all my dirt bike skills meant nothing Very Happy

I used to fall off my Jawa, lowsides on corners usually, on an almost weekly basis.

I thought it was because I am a shit rider but it turns out, the grip offered by the original, 10 year old Barum tyres was somewhere close to that offered by the bare rims.

I still have massive confidence issues on wet roads and gravelly surfaces because of that.

I have also had numerous small fall-offs due to riding sportsbikes along dirt roads/on snow etc.

I've been riding for 16 years. I'd guess I could be approaching into three figures of crashes.

I'm getting better though. I've only had two offs in the last 5 years. One in snow, one on a wet wooden bridge on a single track road.

3.

One my 125, got knocked off by a cager skipping a red and going accross my road. Neutral

Other one on my Hornet I lowsided on a roundabout, but it was so minor I got straight back up and carried on. Lack of heat to tyres Thumbs Down (only been on the road for a few minutes) No damage, apart from a "moved" engine casing that was dripping oil. Got home, oil and filter change, but before I put the new oil in I took the casing off, checked it and the gasket, then put it back on and it stopped dripping Thumbs Up

3rd time I pole vaulted of my Hornet using my exhaust Neutral

Been riding since I was 16, crashed/fell off my 50cc monkey, some muppet pulled out on me in the snow so I had to brake, ended up very bruised!
Have also fallen off as a pillion, when both me and ex came a cropper on a ts250 on a really slippy roundabout, but were going very very slowly so no damage, just me hopping about with a twisted ankle. Thumbs Up

Been riding since 2005, and only had 2 very minor incidents

Doing a U turn in the rain on the GPZ (so prob only in 1st gear) and dropped it cos the front slid on some oil. Cracked the right hand indicator and snapped the rounded end off the brake lever.

During my first couple of weeks of owning the Bandit I was getting it off the centre stand on sloping ground (the car park at work) and managed to let it overbalance, leaning away from me, and dropped it on its side. One scuffed bar end, and me with a red face when I realised it was right underneath the CCTV security camera.

I realise I'm a complete novice by most members standards Embarassed LOL
