It has got to have happened sometime Wink

First off, about 200m down the road from home, car was coming round the corner and so I braked. Got thrown off and bike slid along the road as I watched it thinking "First time!"

Alas, saw engine was still running so jumped up and turned it off before clasping my wrist and sitting down, heh. Could bend the wrist though, and old lady came out the car to see if I was alright. I picked the bike up, replaced the 2 stroke cap and moved it off the road. Luckily I live in a pretty rural area so s'pretty quiet. Notice the gear lever peg has come off, but that's about it. Nice gouge on the road from the peg and footpeg. Followed by a streak of 2stroke oil, heh.

Unfortunately where I'd braked the road is covered in grit and loose stones. I didn't pay attention, woe is me.

Was wearing jeans which ripped easily, nice deep graze and roadrash on my knee. Had jacket gloves etc. on, which have performed admirably. Got home, walked to stables instead, wrist was being lame so went to casualty, think there's a fracture. Which is quite lame, as I have my exams next week and its now in plaster. Ergh.

Alas, know you love rambles, so thought I'd share Wink What should you normally do when forced to brake on a loose surface? It's all a learning experience I guess. And, typing one handed is fun.

rear brake it, but when your on it and have to brake hard, you should apply a tiny bit of front and more rear. A rear lock up is controllable, a front is not.

To be honest once your on the loose stuff and have to brake hard your fucked. Should have not driven on it in the first place, or if you have to go on it, slow down to a crawling speed so that you can roll to a stop without braking.

Nice to see someone admit it was there fault kind of for once. Thumbs Up

We need:-

A. A paint diagram of the crash.

B. Pictures of the injurys to you and bike!

Bad luck with the crash tho, if you ever begin to lock up a front again release the brake and try again. It goes against instinct but it does work.

Same happened to me last night. 200m down the road from home, downhill doing 60 on a 30 and I saw the big red bus around the corner.
God bless combined brakes, I kept it upright Very Happy

Aha alright for some eh Wink.

These are my grazes, nothing worth bothering with tbh. My wrist isn't really hurting so hopefully it'll all come off on Thursday.

I think my issue is I was complacent, I need to pay more attention to the road.

Will grab some of the bike, it's just minor stuff, and will draw a paint diagram soonish Wink. Trying to work out how to hold the Xbox controller, heh.

Wow. You sound like a dick. It's not as if the cager did anything. Rolling Eyes

Bad luck op. But as Ben said, rear brake on loose gravel/surface and tiny bit of front.

But why did you brake? Car came round a corner, assuming it's not a single laned road? And he/she was on their side of the road?

Bad luck. I've fractured my scaphoid twice in one wrist and once in the other. Bloody slow healing and you have to really look after it because it has only one blood supply to the bone so if you move it about and cause it to displace the bottom half of the bone can die which means nasty surgery.

Ouch! I'm really hoping it's just bruising or something. I'm finding it much easier to move my fingers now. I just want to get back to the gym, heh.

It's a single lane country road Smile I'll grab some pictures tomorrow and do some paint antics over it.

I shouldn't have stopped tbh, I just thought if I stopped here it'd save the car having to reverse, but I didn't think it through, heh. It's just the fault of my complacency and not paying enough attention. The damn itching underneath the cast is my penance I think! Wink

p.s. it was diesel Wink

Fair Thumbs Up

Guessing you're riding on the car tracks, where there'd be no gravel? Well, not compared to not using the car tracks!

And yes itching underneath the cast is annoying!

Try and get some girly compensation Wink

Aha I literally did everything wrong, went from the car tracks to the side where all the crap was to make room, and then braked Wink.

I'm tempted to find a chopstick or something to scratch.

Laughing You nut!

Make sure it's clean. I've heard horror stories of how even a tiny bit of food will somehow get stuck there and then ants will crawl inside Neutral not a nice thought!

The hospital have obviously put a cast on it because they think it could be fractured. It's hard to see a non-displaced fracture on small bones in the wrist for the first day or two, I'm guessing you have to go back for more x-rays.

Strange that they have put on a full cast really they usually fit a back-slab at first because of the swelling.
