Agreement in detail @

https://www.conservatives.com/News/News_stories/2010/05/Coalition_Agreement_published.aspx

10. Civil liberties
The parties agree to implement a full programme of measures to reverse the substantial erosion of
civil liberties under the Labour Government and roll back state intrusion.
This will include:
- A Freedom or Great Repeal Bill.
- The scrapping of ID card scheme, the National Identity register, the next generation of
biometric passports and the Contact Point Database.
- Outlawing the finger-printing of children at school without parental permission.
- The extension of the scope of the Freedom of Information Act to provide greater
transparency.
- Adopting the protections of the Scottish model for the DNA database.
- The protection of historic freedoms through the defence of trial by jury.
- The restoration of rights to non-violent protest.
- The review of libel laws to protect freedom of speech.
- Safeguards against the misuse of anti-terrorism legislation.
- Further regulation of CCTV.
- Ending of storage of internet and email records without good reason.
- A new mechanism to prevent the proliferation of unnecessary new criminal offences.

Hi

Believe is probably too strong a word. Hopeful probably sums it up, and with 2 parties agreeing at this stage then it probably has more chance of becoming reality than some forgotten clause in an election manifesto.

All the best

Keith

Agreed didn't the tories thouigh put in the police and evidence act making it harder for cops to stich people up AND were against ID cards in the 1990s (they ran a trial and study and found them unpo;ular and ineffective same conclusion as labour did but labour plouged ahead anyway)

Tories are typically smaller governement/less interference orientated. The points mentioned above are actually quite good press fodder, if they do follow through with them it'll cover the more unsavoury things they're going to have to do.

Sort of; sorry, we have to let you go, however, we've just saved you £100 by not insisting you get an ID card. Oh! and if you want to go shoplifting to make ends meet, remember those CCTV camera's?

Every cloud...
