aprilia rs 125 not starting!!! ive got a spark and compression of 105 psi and its only got 7000 miles any ideas???

Turn the bike over a few times and then take the plug out. Is the plug wet?

Compression is a bit low, although not terminally low.

Check you really have got a spark when the plug is in the head (which will lower the speed it cranks over at, which will possibly prevent it sparking).

plug getting wet, and how do i check the plug whilst in the head? ild jus like to state how this came about, i had it ticking and it was letting out sum stronger fumes than usual ( hadnt started her for a while) then it jus cut out with a clunck noise....

Hi

Put another plug in the plug hole and then test the first plug in the HT lead against the engine.Reason I say to check this is that the RS125 has an ignition pickup which should run a fairly tight clearance between it and the flywheel. If this clearance gets too large then at low engine revs it doesn't manage to trigger a spark.

hi, throttle wasn't open and ive got 2 new spark plugs n tried both, well it smelt different from norm 2 stroke more like poison! but tbh i havent changed petrol or 2 stroke for 6 months..

opened throttle got 120 psi! ive used easy start b4 few times and got it started, bt i think over using it might have blocked the carb????

Hi,
overusing "easy start" will not block the carb jets.
no harm in taking the carb off & cleaning it out & blowing through with an air-line.
good idea if the bike has been left sitting for any length of time.
then return carb to stock settings, fill with fresh fuel, & fit a new spark plug.
with 120psi of compression & a full charged battery, you should get it started.

cleaned the carb and put new spark plug in started first time! only prob is the idle dies out after couple mins....?

hi just wondering if any1 can help me, but i have a rs 125 and rebuilt it and was riding fine till i bought a new twin jim lomas exhaust and fitted it but didnt change anything else and has a 28mm carb on it when i was riding it for around 30mins went to go down bypass when it locked up on me and slid down the road but kept it up luckily. got it home and the piston is buggerd and the barrel aswell all scrapped and piston rings into the piston smoothed in looks a right mess. so was wondering would this be due to the new exhaust? if so how do i set it up so it wont always just blow up? i have a new 34mm carb i have not fitted would it help if i did that? but how do i set that up aswell? thanks hope you can help.
