Finally got a new helmet after asking for some advice here, a Nolan N100 flip-up.
Yes I know it's an old model but £100 notes instead of
£180 and all the difference to the new is a streamline bump on the back. FYI got it from Infinity in York.

However, I can't see any BS or EU marks on it.
I'm assuming it's legal or I wouldn't have been sold it for road use.
However, I also believe it should be marked with a standard.
I can't see anything on the inside lining either. I can't even find a date of manufacture. On the plus side it has got a gold racing sticker.

Can anyone put my mind at rest? Have they stopped putting the blue BS stickers on helmets now? Have I been sold a dud? Confused

If all fails does anyone have the number for the UK Nolan importer/distributor?

Thanks in anticipation Smile

Well BS Marks went out in 2002(ish) and was replaced by ECE-R 2205.

There should be a sticker or a label on/in the helmet with this code on it which means it confirms its made to this standard.

Plus with it being a Nolan, it will/should conform to this.

For more info you can look at the DFT's website at https://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/dft_roads/documents/page/dft_roads_506862-02.hcsp

Clanger for a helmet to be legally sold in the UK/EU its must conform to Either ECE-R22 05 or BS6658:1985, if they don't conform then the seller is breaking the law.

Most recent helmets conform to the latest ECE-R22 05 standard which superseded the BSI Mark.

Normally, in the helmets now, they just put the code ECE-R22 05 on it somewhere whether on a small black sticker like on my helmet, on a label on the strap etc.

Plus with the helmet being a Nolan I should conform to the EU regulations with Nolan being an Italian brand.

I was aware as I'd tried to get a cheap helmet for an occasional pillion (one of the kids). Was offered what turned out to be a chinese helmet which had no markings at all Shocked Shifty Quickly backed off from that one . Didn't think to look before I bought this one as high street shop, named maker, etc. Only when I was home did it occur to me Doh!

Will check helmet again later for ECE-R 2205 (me and lid are several miles apart at the moment). Ta for advice so far.
