Should the first (600 mile) service be free?

Hi all

Just booked my zx6r for its 600 miles run-in service.
When I phoned up to book the service I was told by the garage where I bought the bike from that it'd cost around £90.
Am I wrong in thinking this should be free or is it usual to be charged for a service which you're required to do after 600 miles?

Was tempted to just change the oil/filter/tighten everything myself but have decided to take it in and get a stamp in the service book.

you would usually get the first service free from the dealer that you bought the bike.

It is usually part of the deal you strike when you buy a new bike.

Free first service and a manufacturer keyring etc.

i was told that my 1st service would be £35 (labour free) on my er6-f, phoned up a couple of days ago to book it any they said it'd be around £80, so the figure you've been given seems about right. :'(

First service is like any other service unless, as Chris said, you made a deal when buying the bike.

You don't have to have the first service if you don't want to.
