hi, i have a zxr750L and i've been trying to find out the maximum load capacity without any joy.
my partner has been bit by the bug after three years of me trying to get her on the back, and now wants to go everywhere on the bike! we'd love to go touring on the bike but i need to know how much weight i can safely carry .
im quite big at 115kg, so with my girlfriend as well and all the kit, im worried we might be pushing it to its limits!
anyone got any ideas? i dont want to have to change my bike if i can help it!
cheers
dan

i just spoke to kawasaki uk and they said the limit is 181kg.
now i think that when we're two up and fully kitted out we're probably close to 200kg, is this going to cause major damage to the bike if we do much two up riding?
also any suggestions for other bikes that would handle this better but still be fun to ride solo?

Weight limits on bikes are mostly bollocks IMO, I know my givi box has a weight limit of 3kg I have regularly carried 3-4 times that with one of the lugs broken with no problem. Laughing

I can't I have regular carry myself and a large mate which has to be well in excess of 200kg on my bikes.

this was my thinking, ive seen two large blokes on bike before so i know it can be done. the suspension isnt bottomed out when we're both on but im just worried incase the sub frame or something else gives out while we're on it.

15kg here and there wont make a difference mate, stick it on max preload and go for it.

If you REALLY wanted to then you could fit a stiffer spring, one that has you on your own towards the lower end of preload and you and your bird at the higher end of preload but tbh this is just if you have the spare £ lying around or you find you have handling problems with both of you on it.

Dunno, But I've carried myself and 3 others on a C90 up a big hill.

That's about 45 stone, and about 5bhp.

200Kgs on a ZXR? You'll piss it.

thanks guys. its a bit of piece of mind to hear that others have exceeded the weight limit with no probs! i just had visions of going over a bump and the shock going or the subframe snapping!
it doesnt affect the power too badly, still accelerates quite briskly, and the brakes and handling are pretty good too considering the extra weight.
i really dont want to change my bike cause i love the zxr, but if i had to i would get something more suitable. i just cant think of anything better i could replace it with for the money id get for it!

I used to go 2 up on my rs125 with a guy who weighs 17 stone. I'm 13 stone so adds up to 30 stone all in. It made riding a bit more difficult Laughing but was more than fine.
