New bikes first thoughts

Hi Boys n Girls , passed my CBT 3 weeks ago and jumped stright onto my new CBR125R and have been using it for getting to work and the odd trip out n about.

I have to say i,m enjoying it ( when its warm ) and am gaining experiance quickly . I work nights and its warm on the way to work but at 5 in the morning OH MY GOD! its cold and by the time I get home ( in my summer gloves ) my fingers feel like dropping off.

Thoughts on the bike , Perfect ! I meen as a learner bike you couldnt ask for more ( apart from heated grips lol ) , its not the quickest but will easily keep up with traffic apart from the duel carrageway but hey thats whay theres 2 lanes

Yep they are great for a first bike

I added heated grips to mine (helped with the cold!). Try taking 'winter' gloves under the seat for when it's cold. And if you have textile trousers/jacket put in the thermal lining if you have them.

May invest in some 'winter' gloves for work or just some thin under ones . .
On the odd occation I find the bike refuses to go back into 1st when stood at a junction ( happened twice ) and I had to stall it in 2nd and then it would go in , any ideas?

For getting the bike back into first, let the clutch out to the bitting point, then pull the clutch back in and change down into first.

Hi.

I also work very early in the morning. I would advise getting a good pair of winter gloves for then. Carrying a spare pair of summer gloves is less hassle than loosing a finger, concentration or loosing control.

I have started down shifting before junctions and using engine braking , but im a tad scared im gonna burn the clutch out.

most of the time I just sit in gear.

if I downshift I make sure I'm at 4000rpm or less so then it doesn't rev to high as you bring the clutch back out

I mean just before you come to a stop (maybe 10 foot) change down into first and then just roll to a stop.

If you know the lights are going to be on red for a long time, I put the bike into neutral and have a stretch
