Just out of interest, if you could restore one of the following what would it be?

1) Ford Capri

2) Ford Mk 3 Cortina

3) VW Beetle

I've included some pictures of some mint examples for you to see.

No I share my gf's MG at the moment. Very Happy

I'm looking for something I can get relatively cheap and spread the cost of restoring over a year or so. I've been warned off the Cortina because even the mint ones don't sell /that/ well and have been told/read the Capri isn't that nice to drive. My mates got a beetle that he's been restoring and has offered me the use of his garage until it's done so it is now or never I guess.

I just wanted peoples opinions on what they'd do to be honest. Thumbs Up

I'd go for the Cortina, but it would have to be a Mk1 Lotus Cortina Razz.

Well rebuilt Beetle engines can be had for around £300 and most of the body panels can be found for around £15-£20 in mint condition so it's a very cheap/easy car to work on. It just doesn't really do it for me as much as the other 2.

Beetle definately. Had an aquaintance who did one with a porshe block in the boot. Very fast. It would have to be made convertable though, and there is plenty you can do to make them unique.
