What's the crack with FatBars?

I'm considering getting a comfort kit for my SV650S. It comes in two versions it seems, one with standard bars, one with Renthal fat bars.

So what's the advantage?

Did a search and all I could find was someone mentioning better flex when going over bumps, but this was in a DRZ thumper forum.
The worst/roughest roads this bike is gonna get is the Honister Pass or some of the potholed unrepaired backstreet crap in Man/cr city centre.

So on a bike like the faired SV are FatBars just all tart factor?

You could always ask someone on the dedicated sv site... www.sv650.org - it's highly likely one of the users has done a similar modification to their bike.

Fatbars and twinwall are stronger and there is no need for the tradtional brace between the bars.
