But yeah seriously,
I'm now stumped!
I had a little go over the bike (really need to give it a good strip i think), and discovered a cable... Just sitting there doing nothing.
That dosnt seem right i though.
Turns out it comes out a bit coming off the side of the combustion chamber at the exhaust port.

Power valve i thought.

There is only one of the two cables coming out of there attached to a cylinder that i gues must be the rc servo but the other end has been left un attached. There is also a screw on the cylinder so i dont think it can actually move Neutral

So this leads me to suspect the valve is open all the time so i was wondering if anyone could let me know how this would effect the performance of the bike as it seems to whoosh when its supposed to (7k-8k it starts) and isnt to funky in the lower end either.

Sooo, i'm guessing there is certainly something up with this bike and it may explain why i'm getting not so great mpg as well.

The bike seems to ride fine although i'm sure someone mentioned in a thread a while ago that sometimes the powervalves are fixed open to cover problems Neutral

Would it be covering big problems that are likely to get expensive or could they be fixable? I have a spare engine that looks to be in good nick with all the attachments (including radiator etc but excluding a starter haha. typical).

Any thoughts on the subject would be much appreciated.

Best regards

-Jvr

Ps, the picture may help...

Probably is the P.V. although i'm not too familliar with nsr's
Pegged open powervalve (cables would be removed to do this) you would have no power below 7k then everything comes in at once above that.
You could just put it back to standard by unpegging the P.V and re-fitting the cables quite easily if the servo still works (or you have a spare for that anyway?)

MPG would be much better with it working as you don't have to work the engine as hard...

HTH
EDIT: some people prefer the power delivery with it pegged open so might not be covering a fault, but worse case it's only going to be the servo.

It does sound very much like it is the powervalve cable.

On my CRM125, which uses pretty much the same engine, the powervalve didn't make a massive difference.
My controller wasn't working when I got it, so for a while I rode it with just the cables sticking up - so I could have a 'manual valve' by pulling on either one, at least.

I suspect the screw might be supposed to be there - seem to remember something that looked a bit odd like that when I sorted mine, but it was some years ago.

Can't think of any fault it would really be 'covering' - unless we're talking the actual valve or piston damaged.
NSR engine is very easy to take apart and have a look if you want to get it apart.

PV on them is to allow more power lower down (say 2K-3K) then for a big boost 6/7K+

Could the wire be for the temp sensor?(usually top of cylinder head)

look the pulley , it has 2 cables connected on it . the sheath goes inside a passage in the tray , then the end ball go into the pulley where it`s a hole . if your power valve doesnot work it will be impossible to overtake 7000 rpm and consequently 70 mph
i will be home tuesday and if you havent solved your problem pm with your mail adress , so i will give you some picts
if your pulley is damaged (i cant see here) i will give you the reference number to buy a new one
