Guys,

I tell you what, when you are sorting your insurance or making amendments to your policies, be careful, get it in writing, the reps are just not trained up enough.

I phoned my insurers on Saturday and told them that I have now fixed an Akrapovic road legal system to my bike.

Person 1. Not sure I will have to check with your insurance company. Never heard from him again......

Person 2. No, you will not be covered. Your insurance company does not cover any modifications.

Person 3. Yes you are fully insured no problem! She has a brain!! and the sales manager will be talking to the other two as they are incorrect.

Road legal systems are covered and they are posting me this in writing.

Also, when I got insured, it was the 5th person I spoke to who suddenly spotted my old policy that I had left running and forgot about from a previous bike and pointed out I had two years no claims!

Any conversations, get names, dates, time and if possible a letter!

It could be the reverse, yes you are insured Alex, then I have an accident and get told I am not covered!

Confused

LOL

Yes then hang up on you.

I wonder where we as the consumer really stand, if I had not called, fitted the can and binned my bike, which had nothing to do with the can at all, can they really tell me to get stuffed?

I fitted a nice blue tax disc holder is that a mod, is my steering damper a mod?

Oh yes, they can and will tell you to get stuffed, and they'll use any excuse they can to get out of paying a claim. There point will be that your new exhaust might have given you an extra bhp and if you hadn't told them about this increase in power then it would be your fault for not providing the correct details.

TC was on about this a while ago. Apparantly they can try to use it as an excuse but unless the extra power was the direct cause of the accident they are still obliged to pay out.

Yeah that is what I thought, a court would have something to say surly if an insurance company will try that on.
