Camera Advice

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to buy a camera that I can use to shoot videos on my bike but can't make my mind up so I just wanted some advice.

I'm currently looking at the GoProHD Motorsports or Vholdr Contour HD.

Which one would you go for? I've done some research and these two seem quite popular but maybe there's even better?

I've got one of these cheap chinese ebay cameras. Although the image quality is quite good, the 50 minute battery life is a bit rubbish. Will save you a lot of money...although it's probably not what you're looking for.

Here's a video I did with mine. The focal range is a bit short on that one but I've made it better now. Should get more vids up over the summer Smile

I leant more towards the GoPro HD and given the price they can be had for in N30's thread, that sealed the deal for me.

The things that make the GoPro stand out for me...

The housing is a bit of a hassle, but when the day comes when it's flying off the back or getting plowed through gravel, your looking at a 40 dollar bill for a new housing rather than a 300 quid tab for a whole new camera.

I'm sold on the 170 degree angle, plus whilst both cameras use the H264 codec, the GoPro uses .mp4 as opposed to .mov for the ContourHD 1080, mp4 is a bit more flexible with better support, not an issue if your planning on doing your editing in iMovie though.

Regardless, both are so far ahead of the usual crop of bike cameras that I really can't imagine anyone being disappointed with either, the quality is amazing really.
