My bike is tidy and in very good condition and just had a very thorough checking over.
It passed but I got an advisory on my headlight which is flicking up to the right because it is a grey import.

The tester kindly taped up the light for me to make it comply.
I could leave it or try to get a UK one on Ebay.

I have the previous 3 M.O.T's and none of them have an advisory note issued on it. Funny that. Makes you wonder why the did not advise on that previously.

Some MOT testers overlook some things. Some are meticulous and take their time and will pick up on every minute detail. Depends entirely on the tester on the day.

That's why many bikers ask their mates to recommend places, for the ones who will turn a blind eye to your after-market pipe etc. Thumbs Up

Yeah I guess you are right.

I have been to view a few XR650's recently and in the advert it says they "breezed through no problems", "straight throught M.O.T" etc but when I get there I can see many points it would fail on at my local testing station.

A couple were so bad they must have dodgy certificates.

I didn't think they existed anymore, I remember 20 odd years ago I knew one where I used to live but he got closed down.

But I am recently in a new area so no biker mates to point me in the right direction if I were to purchase a rougher bike in fuuture.
