Hi, i've had my bike for close to 2 years now and completed my theory which is now due to expire in august so Ive booked my practical for next month and im only discovering about doing CBT today, I have a full car license and have been riding on the road with my L plates up completely unaware of CBT, will i have to get this done before my practical or does my license exempt me from it?
Thanks

STOP riding and do the CBT quickly - it's the law no exceptions. You can't do your test without CBT anyway. Was the Theory the actual bike theory or the car one (which doesn't exempt you btw).

Your hazard and theory test last for 2 years and are needed to do your full licence. CBT has been the law for years, did you not check what you needed before you started riding?

And how did you get insurance? Mine asked how long I had my CBT for

He must have done his CBT as he would have had to have shown the CBT certificate when he did his test.

CBT was introduced in 1990.

You best not be riding now becuase you are not insured!

I dont think it applies to Northern Ireland as I have just found out, it is optional here and lowers the cost of insurance for your bike,
I was really getting worried as my test is in 2 weeks and I thought i'd been breaking the law the past two years! cheers guys
