At a garage today filling up, fairly busy. A guy in a car pulled in behind me & i wasn't going to move my bike after i filled up (no other cunt ever moves to let others fill up, especially cars) & as i walked to pay the guy asked me to move the bike forward, so i did but then he made a comment saying something like 'It's not hard to do, it's good manners' (or some other shit) at this point i wasn't going to move but then the chav probably would of hit my bike or done some other crap. So i walked up to hes car & explained that you never see any cars moving for anyone else, look around.

At this point he said "when i'm done filling up, watch & you will see me move" did he fuck! Also made a comment that he's had more bikes then i've had hot dinners. I guess that settles it then..

Why should bikes move for cars? As above, you will never see a car do the same for anyone else (maybe once in a blue moon) & they can easily park in front of the shop, just like bikes can.

A couple of girls were also swearing at a guy for not moving & did these trampy loud mouth chav scum move when they filled up? No.

You're right though, cars never move. If I do fill up and its busy, I'll roll the bike forward a bit if I can. If I can't though, tough shit.

With your lippy guy, I would've been tempted to roll my bike back again just to piss him off, presumably the forecourt would be well covered with CCTV?

I'm quite bloody minded though, especially in the face of such displays of selfish solipsism. People need to be reminded sometimes the world doesn't revolve around them.

i caught an old bloke a few months back parking parallel to my bike and trying to lean over it to get to the pump!!.

pa_broon, yup had CCTV. Didn't want him touching the bike but wanted him to say something as he walked past me in he shop. The fact he didn't move hes cars went straight out of my mind.

I once moved my bike forwards for someone and when I went to pay they tried to charge me for both fill-ups! I try and use pay-at-pumps now so I don't even have to get off the bike at any point during the process. Anyway I'm now of the mind that a minute or two of waiting won't hurt someone behind me, just as it doesn't hurt me when I'm waiting for the car in front to go...

It's honestly never ever occurred to me to move my bike after filling up :/ I've always paid at the pump or gone straight in after filling up. I don't think I've been to a petrol station where I'd be happy no one would accidentally hit my bike trying to get out from the pump afterwards. That and I've never seen a cage do it so why should I??

Though I would move for another bike if they asked me I guess..

I always move my bike forward if the place is busy. Courtesy
costs me nothing and I hope it might rub off on others there.

I have, though, only ever seen one car driver move their car forward.

The best filling station I have ever used was at a Morrisons(IIRC)
in Rotherham. It was a drive-thru design. Brilliant! Why aren't all
fuel stops like that?

and if someone tries to intimidate me or push in, I'll usually make an extra special effort to take even longer getting kitted up again

If there is a queue, I roll it forward, if its not a pay at pump.

Its not much effort, and it makes quite a difference to the person behind.

Common courtesy, like holding a door open.

I used to work at a petrol station (Total), the pumps will allow 2 lots of fuel to be authorised per pump. I am unaware of any etiquette for using the pumps.
I will move the bike from the pump if the person behind is waiting patiently, otherwise the bike stays put. If the person in front is being a pain then I will put my bike right up behind them and fuel up.
The best thing is though, Steve & I will park side by side at a pump and people think that only one bike is getting filled, but the one furthest from the pump will fill up first and go into the shop to queue while the other fills up their bike. If I am paying then I have to remove gloves & helmet to go in the shop, so it therefore takes longer for us to leave the pump. If it is Steve paying he has an open face lid which he does not remove and we are quicker at leaving the forecourt.
