The bike cuts out everytime you put her in gear with the seat on, when the seat is off she works fine. Have checked continuity on all wires on the side stand switch, side stand relay, ignitor and they are all fine. Side stand switch is linked out.

It is driving my girlfriend mad as it is her bike. Any suggestions welcome

The only reason a bike would cut out in gear is if it thought the sidestand were down, therefore trace the sidestand wires and see where they go past any part of the seat. Check the relay for operation also.

trying not to point out the obvious here! but when you put the seat on are you pinching a wire and making a short-circuit?

does the bike run with the seat on, but nobody sitting on it?..... and then does it stop working when someone sits on it?

can you not by-pass the sidestand switch?

Sounds like you've got a broken wire that you need to trace with a test light and volt meter with continuity option.
Where the break is is hard to determine.

No one has to sit on the bike as soon as the seat goes on and is tightened down it will cut out when put in gear.
The side stand switch has been bypassed and we have checked the continuity to the relay and through and it is fine.
I cant see how a wire is being pinched as the seat is bolted directly to the frame and we put grease on the seat to see what and where it is touching. Found it was touching the ignitor moved that from under the seat and yet again still encountering the same problem. Also noticed that when you do put the bike in gear (without seat) and put lights on full beam she for a second sounds like she is going to cut out but then is fine. Do you think this is linked?
We appreciate all your help.

This is just mega odd, you've missed something, you must have.
if it was me i'd start pulling at wires to see if they have snapped inside and checking all connections are not corroded etc.

is one of the seat mounting bolts going thru and into a wire ?
try it with just 1 bolt first in each hole then add bolts until it stops running?
sounds like one of them is a bit too long maybe? Thumbs Up

Have found the problem & fixed it Very Happy
Turned out to be a dodgy wire on the main earth to the battery; when the seat was offthe sissy bar was resting on the indicators providing an earth path. When the seat was fitted this path was removed.

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP AND INPUT!
