I've bought a 2005 Suzuki GS500 yesterday as a non runner for next to nothing off a friend thats never heard of cleaning and mantaining his bikes. I've bought a battery for it which should arrive at the end of the week and hopefully that should get it going. (The battery was virtually empty!) One of the problems he stated was that the alarm keeps setting itself off whenever it rains and I've decided to remove it completly. How easy is it to remove the alarm from the bike altogether without it creating endless electrical problems?

Cheers!

Harry

It was easier to fit a new loom on th GS500 I had, picked it up off ebay for a tenner and took an afternoon to fit.

Sold the old loom with the datatool alarm still fitted for £50 on ebay!

It should just be a simple case of tracing the alarm wires and rejoining the circuits that it interrupts for the immobilisation. The circuit should be interrupted quite some way down the loom or after several misleading laps of wiring but often it's right next to the alarm unit, I've had 'professionally installed' datatool immobilisation circuits removed in a couple of minutes despite a certificate indicating it was installed properly, then just rip the unit out and you're good to go.

Cheers lads!

I've managed to catch hold of a wiring diagram from the alarm installation so when me battery has turned up and charged I'll give it a go tracing it back and see where I ends up.
