Bike mag rates the bandit 1250 at about 93bhp, but just about everywhere else I read about the bandit say around 100bhp. Maybe the 93bhp figure is at the rear wheel rather than the engine output? Anyone have any idea on what the actual engine power is? I even heard that better exhausts can add 1-2bhp but I havent noticed anything with my unbaffled one.

Can anyone tell me what the top speed is for the 1250? I often read 140mph+ but has anyone actualy tested it?

Everywhere I have read says about 100, but the Speed Four is suppose to be about that and the Bandit was much faster, must be a huge amount of torque, but still 100bhp doesn't sit right I think it is quicker.

Hi

Would guess that 100hp is the Suzuki claim while 93hp is what Bike have got when testing one on a dyno.

Doubt most people can feel a difference of 10% in power, although they will likely feel a change in power delivery (and why a less powerful bike with a more interesting power delivery can feel faster). Screw up the low down power with a badly set up exhaust and the resulting top end rush can make it feel like you have gained power.

All the best

Keith

The fact the Bandit easily topped 150 approaching 160 and the Four just about tops 135, made me think it was faster but I assume thats the aerodynamics.

Was meant to make a lot of difference. The end can on them was one of the few that was restrictive by that time.

Or that is a Suzuki speedo issue Wink . Original 1200 Bandit had about 100hp and would do a touch over a real 140mph (probably mid 150s on the speedo), with about 155 true / 170 indicated being the red line in top on stock gearing.

All the best

Look at the torque output of the Bandit over the Speed Four, it makes a fair bit more.
Admittedly that wont affect the top speed though.

I've had a B12 and now have the 1250, they are both around the 100bhp mark. Just an aftermarket can on its own only adds a few bhp on both bikes.
I've hit 145 on the speedo on my 1250 and there was still more to go, but quite honestly those speeds start scaring the shit outta me nowadays.
There is vids on youtube showing 1250 Bandits doing 160 on the speedo, which is probably a tad over 150 in real terms.
