Just wondering what peoples thoughts on doing a 2 day DAS are, I'm confident on the bike have covered 5000 miles in the last few months mainly through London and have been driving a car for 12 years. I just don't want to spend any more time and money than is necessary as I don't feel a certificate is the measure of some ones ability to ride well or safely (know enough people who can't drive who have had licences for many years) and am fairly confident of passing. Is this wise or am i being an overconfident twat?

If you're confident on a bike and have good low speed control, there's no reason why you couldn't do it in 2 days.

The only person who's going to know the answer to that is yourself unless you've got someone riding with you to see how your doing. If you believe in your ability and have the confidence then go for it.

low speed control won't be a problem, remembering to ride in accordance with necessary exam constraints will be the issue! Thumbs Up

Well I managed it 3 years ago; I'd bought a 125cc and did 30 miles/day commuting for 4 months (had driven a car for 20 years and ridden bikes in my youth) so I took a 2 day DAS with the test on 3rd morning.

I'd practiced the harder maneuvers (u-turn, e-stop, etc...) on my own bike in the weeks prior to the DAS, and read the DSA book Learing to Ride beforehand, so I understood what the DSA expected.

The instructor made it clear that he thought it was a tall order, but by the second evening he was confident I could do it the following morning, I passed with 2 minors, I was/still am happy. Thumbs Up

Perhaps it's worth getting one of the riding schools to give you an hour's assessment, many of them will do this free and give you a good idea of your riding ability.

Two days is fine if you can ride ok, but about 3 hours of the second day will be taken up going to and from your test, and taking it, so there's minimal time for training.

The test has changed since then, of course.

It's pretty much all the same gravy, though. Swerve/Avoidance test the only biggie which isn't really that much of a biggie anyway

I did my DAS with no prior experience in 3 days plus tests, one less day for 5000 miles of experience should be easy Thumbs Up .

Go for it, worst that can happen is you fail Thumbs Up .

Ah and the swerve etc is pi$$ easy, nothing to worry about there. Just need to give it some beans to get up to speed if you are on a smaller bike.

If it's any consolation I paid £450 for the one-to-one 2 day DAS inc old test fee 3 years ago, so I think you've been offered a fairly reasonable price. Thumbs Up
