Hi,
Thought I'd just start a thread on what actually constitutes a "ped boi" in people's opinions. What is a ped boi as opposed to simply an aspiring 16 year old biker? Is being a "ped boi" a state of mind rather than what you ride? if so, surely you could get 125cc ped bois riding on CBT Confused Do proper licenses automatically alleviate ped boi status?
Opinions people Smile !

A ped boi is identified by his actions and his wardrobe.

If they're in trackies and trainers with their feet on the rear pegs and chin on the handlebars, good chance they're a ped boi.

If they come up beside a bike at the lights and actually seriously think they're going to beat you in a race, good chance they're a ped boi.

If they have no consideration for anything else on the road, they're a ped boi.

Check yourselves against the above categories. If none apply, you're not a ped boi.

Do you go around in groups, walk around with your helmet on top of your head and say "bruv" a lot?
Whatever your answer that answers your question in my opinion! Laughing

Why do they do that, resting their lid above their ears?

TS50 has gears. A ped does not.

Ped bois generally have automatics... (although this is not always the case)

They also always try to tell you that their bike will beat aything and will do 150mph.

For example, if a certain mito owner were to come on here and claim that it did 120mph then he would be considered a ped boi.

plus a ped boi would right a speedfight, whats with that anyway, yes they challenge speed, as they have none of it, but why decal it on the ped!? odd in my oppinion.

If you get a scooter, get a real one, not some sport bike rip off.

Ped boi is attitude and clothing.

Hoodie + trainers + tracksuit bottoms + 50cc scooter claiming to top speed of 60 mph ridden with no L plates or insurance = Ped boi

Ped boi's typicaly have no interest in bikeing but instead want to go as fast as possible around and around the town center. most ped boi's get a £500 1.3 nova with a £1000 sound system as soon as they are able to.

Oi, I say "bruv" a lot, I don't wear trackies, I own two hoodies that i haven't worn since my college days, I don't ride in trainers, I don't think my NSR will do 150+ , I have L plates, and insurance and I don't ignore other traffic - indeed i appreciate that hitting cars can only be bad for my clean and sparkly NSR, so why do people say I'm a ped boi? Confused Sad

Although I DO actually know a ped boi - Adam, he's sixteen, he rides a speedfight 2 with carbon bits, an orange neon bar underneath his scoot-ay! and he rides with his feet on the pillion pegs and his chin on the bars Laughing Laughing . AND he wears his lid above his ears, which i don't do for two reasons: 1 it's uncomfortable, 2 my lid is a £300 AGV that i don't fancy having fall off my head.

Every time I meet him i show him just how much better the NSR is than his baby ped Very Happy , for the record, his top speed is 45mph Smile.

Another thing that annoys me about those "ped bois" are the ones, who have their CBT, but instead buy a, rs125 or such like. They ride around in a hoodie and jeans, no boots, sometimes not even any gloves.

An rs125 can be just as dangerous as any superbike (de-restricted), because their top speed is one to which the average superbike rider would normally use... With no protection is is incrediably unresponcible, not in the least to say stupid.

Just becase you can buy one on your CBT, doesnt mean you have to ride one like it is a ped.

I saw someone on as rs250 with virtually no proper riding gear on today...I dont understand. Neutral

I don't get it either. We've all seen the mess people make of themselves by not wearing protection , even in low speed offs.
This guy was on his pushbike, imagine his speed multiplied and you're wearing next to no protection. https://www.methodshop.com/fun/sports/greatmoments/images/cyclist-rash.jpg

They're on 2 wheels aren't they.

A little gentle education is what they need from their peers (ie others on two wheels).

I'll start to dislike them when they hit 17 and decide to try and impress us all by driving about like idiots in a 1.1 Nova with a body kit.

Burberry should be wiped off the face of the planet. Mind you, if their uniform didn't consist of something Burberry, how would we recognise them?

The ones I know who fit the "ped boi" definition usually ride about at 50 up the 30s usually weaving in and out of the white lines in tracksuit bottoms and a non strapped helmet, often carrying a non helmetted passenger too.

Mind you, Burberry's appeal to oriental tourists Razz as well as old folk and veterans. Other than that i agree with most of you.

Ever seen a guy wearing burberry boxers Shocked cos my mate does and he just looks absolutely gay. BTW, chavscum with the guy clad in 100% burberrys except for the shoes.

Oh, if your ever in West Hendon on the A5, look 2 your left hand side as you drive past and you will see a 1989 Austin Metro done up like a Burberry's wardrobe Razz

Peds can have gears, for example my 50cc derbi gpr has gears and it is still a moped.

consider yourself corrected.

(i am not a ped boi)

Going back to what Somerset Scratcher wrote, i basically wear the same stuff. Vans or my Doc Martens , Carpenter jeans and very often some Grunge hoods or Leather Jacket. Hate chavs in their Hackett Shirts and Reebok Classics racing me down the A5 every day.

Whats more dangerous in my area are 19 yr old black youths riding on the latest litre monsters; usually R1s or Fireblades. without any consideration for others. They wear just their Akdemics pajama bottoms and Nike Air Force Ones riding as if they're doing a lap around Donnington. Hope one of em finds a convenient diesel spill as it will a good justice to the biking fraternity. Not to mention, they have no licenses or insurace or have even done their CBT Evil or Very Mad

Why cant they be like normal people and wait till they've done their license and proper training and not act like some sort of rolling roadkill.

does it really matter that they are black?
