Yup, I'm on about the site that sends you emails of the lowest prices in your area to date...

Well, they've taken off the journey/cost calculater. Crying or Very sad I'm trying to plan a 167 mile trip (York to Derby & back for bike bits) in the car but I can't find out anywhere how much it'll cost.

I do know it cost me £20 return to Leeds not long back but I'm not working that out I'd be here all night.

Is there anywhere that does this? (my maths is worse than 6yo's).

as that link but just as easy to work out yourself, a 1 year old could do it hehe

Example

Number of Miles lets say: 145 miles

Your bike's average fuel consumption, lets say 50mpg

First thing is to work out how many miles your bike does in per litres

so therefore lets convert mpg to litres.

50 devide by 4.55 gives you 10.99 miles per litres after rounding up.

Therefore your trip is 145 miles so we'll devide that by our miles per litres at 10.99 and we get 13.19 litres used.

Therefore if petrol costs £1.20 we then times that by the number of litres used - therefore 1.20 x 13.19 gives you £15.83.

Other feel free to correct me if you like, i'm half a sleep so probably gone wrong somewhere!

I can't do half my times tables.

I'm not thick, quite the opposite but mathematics was never something I was good at. That stuff quoted is gobble-de-gook to me, I just can't process it. Crying or Very sad

I get this of the site N30 posted:



Miles 167 miles
MPG 35 mpg (does more but to be safe)
Fuel Cost 115 pence/Litre


This journey would cost you £26.03 - - Smile I'd be happy with this, but it doesn't seem right. Confused

The math works out sadly...
As your journey is longer and MPG is much lower than the 50mpg in the example these both up the cost quiet a bit Neutral

Working out MPG and all that jazz is one of the most simple things you can do, just like converting MPH to KMH and vice versa.

What did you get at GCSE maths?

That example I posted is true figures, I'm goig in my car and theyre the figures for my car, I put it as:

MPG: 35 (it does better but im over quoting to be safe)
Miles: 167
Fuel cost 115.00 per litre (nearest cheapest to me).

There are 4.546 litres per gallon and the bike does 7.699 miles per litre.

That means to do 167 miles you need 21.7 litres of petrol, which at £1.15/litre will cost £24.96

50x5/10=what

Let's make it easier

If 5 apples cost 2 pounds
how many apples can I buy with my 6 pounds?

6x5/2=15apples

I meant when it comes to anything other than maths, my job means I have to know all sorts of legal stuff, argue with solicitors about business law and process payments on accounts, usually several hundred pounds per transaction before I even think about clients that have several different packages and are paying all in 1 go. Confused

I'm not 'generally thick', just really bad at basic maths.
