Online?

You wouldn't get it physically but you'll be on the system.

Might as well wait until Tuesday now as that's the 1st. There are some post offices open on sunday - I know the one at Merry Hill is...sometimes the shopping centre says if you want to have a shop here you need to be open sundays.

Apparently you are allowed to use the vehicle when waiting for a tax disk purchased online, providing you purchase it when the old one is still valid...

Quote:

I have not received the tax disc. Can I use the vehicle without the tax disc displayed?

When you apply for a tax disc online or by using our phone service you are able to legally continue to drive your vehicle for up to 5 days after the tax disc has expired while you wait for the new tax disc to arrive. This will only apply when you have applied for a new tax disc before the current one expires. You should continue to display the expired disc on your vehicle, until the new one arrives.

If you tax today, you'll basically be wasting a months worth of the tax just for the sake of the next 2-3 days.
Better to wait till 1st or 2nd June and get the benefit of taxing for the full month...

You wont be on the system until Tuesday.

I had a car towed once, I paid for tax online on a Saturday evening, the police towed the car from a space in Manchester on a Sunday day, for having no tax, even though I'd purchased it online. I had to go back on the Monday and they checked the system again, and the car showed up, so I got it back for free.

Well you simply print out the conformation email that send you, that you are taxed and that the disk is in the post and you can now use your bike Thumbs Up

im suer that's not the case, if you tax within a few days of the end of the month, the tax runs for a full 12 months plus the few days you're early by. so you'll get 367 days or something. im sure it's only by 2 days max but im sure oyu can tax it before the date and not lose a whole month.

It does work like that as I normally get mine online when the letter arrives, 2 weeks before the current one expires. The new tax is not valid till the start of the new month, after the current old one has expired.

If you have no tax, it is then backdated to the start of the current month.

So it doesn't work like that because you're going on about already having existing tax.

You will never buy tax and get 367 days for the price of a year. It doesn't work like that.

Sorry...quoted wrong post Embarassed

Does the OP's bike have existing tax? If it does, no issue. If it hasn't then i'd expect the disc to start from May 1st 2010. That happened to the GSX in August 2008 as it was unlicenced for 12 years by previous owners.
