Hello, just to introduce my self incase people have forgotten. I used to be shaun's duck until m1ke, my hero saved me from my imprisonment and showed me that there was more to life than shauns front garden. See my profile.

Anyway Mike took me to europe on the back of his sexy motorbike and this is the write up of our experiances and a few pictures included.

1st day was the 4th july - We rode the 160 miles from shrewsbury to reading where we stayed at G's house (thankyou G!) Our ferry was at 7am the next morning which meant we left G's house at 4am Surprised, Having slightly misjudged the timing we ended up doing a very steady speed down the motorway... with 50 miles to go and half an hour to do it in you can work it out!

Arriving at dover at 6.35am we rode onto the ferry and there we set sail.

5th-july monday - We rode from Calais to reims, after an intial fuck up where mike rode onto the toll road and maurice didn't which left us 30km apart in a foreign speaking country. Rolling Eyes Eventually we found each other and set on our way down the back roads. It was hard going especially since we hadn't slept much. 200 mile later we got to reims.

Skipping on a bit now 6th july 400 mile later Mike gets a puncture on the motorway Rolling Eyes We were only 10 mile from our destination and mike was wondering why the bike wouldn't go above 80mph Wink Fortunately Mike got breakdown cover which meant a 2 hour wait. The bike was picked up and we were sent to a very posh hotel which was all paid for Thumbs Up It even had a mini bar! We couldnt believe our luck.

7th july - Mike gets the bill for the mini bar Rolling Eyes it wasn't pretty. The tyre gets fixed and we finish off the final 300ish miles to gap our final destination.

8th - We have a day off went walking into town. We also witnessed a crash where a big 250cc scooter got knocked off right in front of us!

9th - Rode the bikes into italy, the roads were incredable, hair pin after hair pin. We saw some very amazing sights.

10th- Started on our way back, we spent a good hour trying to find our hotel in dijon, that cities big!

11th- Road up as close to calais as we could so we didn't have far to go the next day before our ferry.

12th- got ferry at 7pm, docked in england then rode the 300 mile home. mike was home for midnight Cool

Glad you had fun donald. Good to see you getting out and about and seeing more of the world than just Shaun's garden.

To be honest, we would have been absolutely buggered if I hadn't got that cover. We had a puncture repair kit but obviously that was no good as the valve was what had gone.

The valve looked old and perished so I don't think the bike shop changed the valve when they fitted a new tyre to it 5 weeks ago Rolling Eyes

looks like it was fun, i have to say that those roads and some of those places look very fmilier, for example those hairpins, look like the way to mont blanc from where we stay, near lake leman/lake geneava and that snack bar i am sure is en route as well. I have to say one things the french do better than us is those formula ones, power showers and loos that steam clean after every visit, just dont get caught inside or youll be a lobster.

Drooling @ those roads! How many miles did you guys do in total? Wouldn't mind doing something like this myself.

31700 - mileage at begining

34933 - mileage at end

= 3233km
Thats in KM not miles. The CBR250 never failed to start, it has been a very reliable bike, probably the most reliable that I have owned.

Thinking That's a manageable distance on my bike. Not too sore on the mileometer. Hmm I wonder if I can convince anyone to come with me. Smile

Any idea of how much you spent while you were away?

I've spent approx £400 while away but of course we paid the £56 for ferry, £47 for breakdown and then we paid for 3 nights in the hotel in advance.

All in I have spent near £600 if you include the absolute bitch of a phone bill I have just received.

If I was gonna go again it'd definitely be for longer though. We didn't have enough time in the Alps, also a few rest days would have been nice.
