Ok so im back again Smile

I removed the exhaust system from my fazer (without much drama suprisingly). i have removed the downpipes and the muffler all together.

the time has come to now separate the exhaust downpipes from the end can. but here is the problem... the exhaust and link pipe are aftermarket (viper), and have been installed properly with the sealer paste etc, etc. i have undone the clamps and removed the excess paste, but they are looking pretty solidly attached, and dont want to separate.

i wondered about applying some heat to try to aid the process, but im not sure if this is the best thing to do? i know it can be done, but im not sure how/what is the best way to do it? help would be much appreciated.

thanks

I'd have thought just twisting it would break the seal?

Also, that exhaust paste hardens with heat. Or so says the tin of stuff I used.

its pretty hard stuff. the gunk is between the joint, which has had clamps over the top so the metal is now very tight, so twisting doesnt work. as it turns out i dont think i will need to seperate them as im repairing the exhaust not replacing it. depends how my repair goes though Smile.
