Not 100% if I'm supposed to post this in here or not, as the motorbike in question is not actually for sale but I was wondering if this is the right place to find out roughly what i could get for it. Sorry I'm new so if I've got it wrong please don't yell at me =(

Basically I own a Honda CG125 which has given me a few problems since i got it.

Wondering how much it is worth in parts and whether or not it is worth to sell as a runner with a new engine.

Honda CG125 W reg

Dropped 3-4 times
Dropped while riding at 30mph broke front headlight unit and was replaced
Seized engine due to lack of maintenance checks
Valves have blown twice
Involved in one major crash pretty much totaled the bike.

Damage from last crash:

Replaced front mud guard (not original)
Broke rear light unit (replaced)
Broke 2 indicators rear far side and front far side (both replaced)
Bent Centrestand (has been replaced but still not sitting right)
Bent footpegs (replaced)

The lower part of the chain guard is missing and one of the valves has blown again within 3-4 weeks of replacing.

All the work has been done by my dad and the bike was in good working order before the crash and since has not run properly.

I was wondering whether the bike is worth fixing or whether I should just sell for pieces.

Ouchy. If you're having that much engine trouble since the last accident on it it's not going to be worth much at all. You'd be lucky to get £150 - £200 for it? I'm not sure how much a spares / repairs CG is worth without an engine actually. Especially seeming as the engine has seized before I don't think anyone would value it at anything.

However, if labour is free then you can pick up a new CG engine for about £200 maybe. It's a possible option to get something of worth again, as is breaking down the bike and selling all it's parts which might make you up to £200 if you put a lot of painstaking effort in to it? Maybe more you never know

All just massive guesses but hopefully some of them are logical enough to get you thinking and close to the truth. I hope I've helped. Thumbs Up

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

I've recently been talking to a mate who is a whiz with bikes and he reckons the problem is with the valve springs, but yeah hopefully i can pick up a cheap engine and the labour is free, not expecting a huge amount for the bike as I've just had a look on ebay at the same year bike as mine with lower mileage in pretty good shape going at about £600-700, just want to get more than £200 for it really hope for £500 but i doubt that. Sad really the bike has had about £500-£800 spent on it its a shame to get none back. Tbh i view any cheap bike as a waste of time as it will fall apart. Thats why i'm hoping to get my hands on a RS125 instead of this useless SYM XS125 i have which has several problems on it.

you may have several problems on the RS125 you are buying Wink including regular rebuilds and expensive parts when you inevitably crash/drop it

My mate owns an RS and he will be teaching me how to do the servicing and where to get it done and also this is a bike to replace a 250cc as i am nearing my test date nearly 2 years after taking my cbt =), as you said i probably will crash it, thats why im ,looking for a cheap one. And yes i know I crashed a CG, the one I had was a worthless piece of garbage. Plus the parts arent hugely expensive and not exactly hard to find.
